La presente investigación de tipo descriptivo, de corte transversal tuvo como objetivo determinar la presencia de Anomalías Ortodóncicas, la necesidad y prioridad de tratamiento ortodóncico, según el Índice de maloclusión de la Asociación Iberoamericana de Ortodoncistas (AIO), en escolares con dentición mixta, de una Institución Educativa del distrito de Cómas-Lima. La muestra fueron 112 escolares de la I.E. “Hans Christian Oersted”, que cursaron el estadio de Dentición Mixta, seleccionados a través de un muestro Aleatorio Simple. Se utilizó el Instrumento: Índice Cuantitativo de la AIO para determinar las Anomalías Ortodóncicas y evaluar la Necesidad y Prioridad de Tratamiento. Ludwig’s angina is a rapidly progressive cellulitis that involves sub mandibular, sub lingual and submental spaces bilaterrally. This was due mainly to per apical infections of the second and third mandible molars. Due to the rapid advancement of the clinical (which in certain occasions could even threaten the patient’s life) it is extremely important to know clearly the criteria for early diagnosis of Ludwig’s angina, which will enable us to provide the most appropriate treatment to halt the progress of the clinical and will prevent the onset of life-threatening complications.
