This article reviews common psychiatric entities and clinical perspectives during times of crisis, analyzing their impacton mental health. Crises, categorized as pandemics, natural disasters, armed conflicts, and economic crises, significantlyincrease the prevalence of mental disorders and exacerbate preexisting conditions, posing challenges to the outreach andpossibilities of mental health systems. The COVID-19 pandemic, for instance, has led to increased psychiatric hospitalizationsamong children and adolescents due to excessive use of digital media. Objective: To compare the prevalence of suicidal behavior (desire to die, suicidal ideation, suicide planning, and suicide attempts) as well as the gender differences in the adolescent population of the city of Abancay in the years 2010 and 2016. Methods: Comparative analyses of secondary sources from databases of the mental health epidemiological studies carried out in Abancay by the National Institute of Mental Health, in 2010 and 2016. Using various instruments, a total of 725 adolescents were evaluated in 2010, and 718 in 2016. Regarding suicidal behavior, only adapted items of the Colombian Mental Health Questionnaire were considered. Various prevalence rates of suicidal behavior were measured. Objective: To compare the prevalence of suicidal behavior (desire to die, suicidal ideation, suicide planning, and suicide attempts) as well as the gender differences in the adolescent population of the city of Ayacucho in the years 2003 and 2017. Materials and methods: A comparative analysis of secondary sources, using databases from epidemiological studies in mental health conducted by the National Institute of Mental Health «Honorio Delgado-Hideyo Noguchi» in Ayacucho, in 2003 and 2017, is presented. Results: A comparison of prevalence of suicidal behaviors of 624 adolescents in 2003 and 556 in 2017, showed a significant decrease in lifetime suicidal thoughts, from 34.5% in 2003 to 27% in 2017 (p=0.025). Desde 2019, se han venido publicando casos de pacientes con COVID-19 que desarrollaron el Síndrome de Guillain-Barré (GBS). Esta revisión explora mecanismos que expliquen fisiopatología, características clínicas, hallazgos de laboratorio y características imagenológicas en estos pacientes. Metodología: Búsqueda bibliográfica de estudios publicados en NCBI y Scielo, entre diciembre de 2019 y abril de 2022. Resultados: Se encontraron noventa artículos, 53 de los cuales se incluyen esta síntesis. No se encontraron estudios que expliquen una asociación entre GBS y COVID-19.
