The objective of the study was to develop a short version of the Positive Affect and Negative Affect Scale (PANAS), from the original version of 20 items, proposed by Watson et al. (1988a). The sample consisted of 3960 students from a public university in Lima. The results indicate that the validity of the internal structure, through exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis, was defined by 10 items and two dimensions. Positive affects are organized into five items: determined, optimistic, inspired, active, and attentive; while negative affects are in five items: irritable, hostile, angry, guilty, and ashamed. Likewise, it was found for the final short version, standardized coefficients with factorial loads between .48 and .85, as well as the fit indices of the model were in accordance with what was expected. Internal consistency reliability indicates Alpha and Omega coefficients grea...

A sample of 212 students was taken of the marginal-urban area of San Martin de Porres district, located in Lima, aged between 6 and 11 years, who were attending a state primary school. A checklist was applied, (validated by the authors) made up by l8 items under DSM IV criteria. The results indicated a prevalence of 16.5 % (IC 95 %=10.7 %-22.3 %), the most predominant type was combined, in boys and the age group of 6 to 8 years. It was also identified that in boys predominate the combined type and the hyperactive one, while the inattentive type is more prevalent in girls.

Depression is a significant public health problem, which makes it necessary to understand the psychometric properties of the instruments used for its evaluation to facilitate better decision-making. The Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-9) is an instrument that achieves optimal accuracy levels in measuring depression. Therefore, the objective of this study was to conduct a meta-analysis to generalize its reliability. A systematic search conducted in Web of Science and Scopus between 2020 and 2022 retrieved 32 studies that applied the PHQ-9 and reported Cronbach's alpha. A random effects meta-analysis was performed to estimate the test reliability, while heterogeneity was assessed using Cochran's Q and I2 statistics. Potential moderating variables were examined through meta-regression and subgroup analyses. The combined reliability of the PHQ-9 was 0.846 (95% CI: 0.824-0.862). The Egger t...
