Este trabajo explora el Omegaverse, un universo ficcional creado y desarrollado por fans y escritores amateurs que ha llamado la atención de un sector de la industria del entretenimiento. En esa línea, nuestro análisis se concentra en los elementos narrativos y en las conexiones que los seguidores han establecido con estos relatos, a fin de verificar si su evolución ha llegado al punto de evidenciar las convenciones que caracterizan a un relato de género. Siendo este un trabajo que se mueve en el terreno elusivo de las llamadas fanfictions, las características formales que aquí se abordan y sirven a las conclusiones podrían seguir evolucionando según los intereses creativos de los prosumers.

This article explores the Omegaverse, a fictional universe created and developed by fans and amateur writers. Despite being born far from business logic, it has drawn the interest of the editorial industry, which now profits from its popularity. The analysis pays special attention to the Omegaverse’s formal features, for which it reconstructs its evolution from its beginnings in 2009 until 2021, both online and in print. The results confirm that its development has resulted in the birth of a narrative matrix of its own, inscribed the fantasy genre, which facilitates its dissemination and serves as a guide to create and promote its followers’ expectations. Fanfictions have in the Omegaverse a robust example of how their stories can be as captivating as those produced by the industry.

Se explora el Omegaverse, un universo ficcional creado y desarrollado por fans y escritores amateurs que, lejos de la lógica de producción y los cálculos del negocio, ha llegado a interesar a un sector de la industria que hoy aprovecha su popularidad. El análisis atiende de manera especial sus rasgos formales y para ello reconstruye su evolución desde los inicios en el año 2009 hasta el 2021, abarcando tanto plataformas en red como lanzamientos editoriales. Los resultados confirman que su desarrollo ha deri-vado en una matriz narrativa propia, afiliada al género fantástico, que facilita su difusión y sirve de guía para crear y promover expectativas en sus seguidores. Los fanfictionstienen en el Omegaverse un ejemplo robusto de cómo sus relatos pueden alcanzar las mismas cotas de interés que aquellos de la industria.
