A 15 year-old woman with diagnosis of hypothyroidism and hyperprolactinemia had irregular treatment. She lost conscience twice and magnetic resonance (MR) was indicated. It showed image of pituitary tumor that displaced optic chiasm. She was prescribed levothyroxin 50 ug for one week and then 100 ug daily. Hormonal treatment produced normalization of hormonal values and magnetic resonance evidenced 3 mm tumor reduction without supraselar extension.

Objetivos: Determinar la sensibilidad insulínica en obesos y diabéticos de tipo 2, bajo hipoxia hipobárica intermitente. Diseño: Estudio comparativo clínico. Institución: Instituto Nacional de Biología Andina, UNMSM, y Hospital Nacional Arzobispo Loayza. Participantes: Obesos, diabéticos de tipo 2 y sanos. Intervenciones: Se estudió 25 sujetos, sanos (8), obesos (5) y diabéticos de tipo 2 (12), sometidos a hipoxia hipobárica intermitente a 3 200 m.s.n.m. en cámara hipobárica, una hora semanal por 4 semanas. Se obtuvo muestras de sangre al inicio y al finalizar la última semana. Se determinó insulina (IRMA), glicemia, colesterol, triglicéridos, HDLc, LDLc, y hemoglobina glicosilada. Objective: To determine healthy males’ antioxidant system response in induced acute hyperglycemia. Design: Prospective, descriptive, longitudinal, experimental study. Setting: National Institute of Andean Biology, Faculty of Medicine, Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos, Lima, Peru. Biological materials: Whole blood and serum of apparently healthy men. Interventions: After 10 hour fasting, intravenous glucose was administered to thirteen healthy 20-41 year-old adult men using the hyperglycemic clamp method at 125 mg/dL above basal value during 120 minutes. Glycemia was measured at 0, 5, 10, 15, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90, 100, 110, and 120 minutes.
