This article examines the relationship between the work of Jorge Luis Borges (1899-1986) and two musical genres that appeared in the Río de la Plata at the end of the Ninenteen century and the beginning of the Twentieh century: Tango and Milonga. Considering some of the essays and testimonies given by the author, I intend to understand the attraction that Tango produced in him as well as his project of founding a mythical and imaginary past, «a Tango Mithology», based on its referents and figures. Concerning Milonga, assuming his notes on the role of music, instrumentation, an interpretation, I examine the connection between la milonga and la payada in his work Para las seis cuerdas (1965), and the invention of an absolutely personal «milonga poetics». Finally, I include the testimonies of several important figures in the history of Tango to establish the role Borges in it.

El artículo examina el ensayo de Sebastián Salazar Bondy (1924-1965) Lima la horrible (1964) tomando como base la noción de Mijail Bajtín (1993) de que “[el lenguaje] es el producto de la actividad humana colectiva, y refleja en todos sus elementos tanto la organización económica como la sociopolítica de la sociedad que lo ha generado”. En ese sentido, se establece en el ensayo la presencia de dos géneros discursivos propuestos por Bajtín (2011) –secundario complejo y primario simple– para demostrar cómo el autor incorpora la “comunicación discursiva directa” para dar voz a sectores sociales postergados en la representación de la ciudad. Salazar Bondy dirige sus ataques a la llamada “Arcadia Colonial” e, implícitamente, a las “formas centralizadoras del lenguaje” (Bajtín) que han prevalecido en autores como Palma, Porras Barrenechea, de la Riva Agüero, ...

This article examines the novel Bioy (2012) by Diego Trelles Paz (Lima, 1977), considering its links with the traditional detective story and the American hardboiled novel. It explores the effects of violence in bodies and subjectivities of masculine and female characters employing the three dimensions of violence proposed by Johan Galtung. In addition, the article identifies a break with some of the hardboiled novel's elements, particularly those related with the system of characters, as well as the use of multiple voices and narrative perspectives, all this considering the ability of a genre whose history has been typified by a principle of obsolescence (a concept proposed by Jacques Dubois) suitable for a narrative that portrays a society in crisis and exposed to violence.

En su tesis doctoral, el crítico francés Gérald Hirschhorn (2005) sostiene que Sebastián Salazar Bondy llegó a escribir la sorprendente suma de 2,231 artículos entre 1942 y 1965, entre estos, un total de 1,089 “dedicados a la cultura”. Hirschhorn, sin embargo, no incluye en su relación los referidos a la problemática de la ciudad, pero sí los incorpora en el exhaustivo inventario final del volumen. Publicados entre los años 1953 y 1965, principalmente en La Prensa y El Comercio así como en la revista Oiga, después del regreso definitivo del autor al Perú en 1951, estos artículos constituyen un testimonio sumamente valioso no solo en la medida en que translucen una visión y una manera de entender la ciudad, sino que, además, revelan el hecho de que mucho antes de la publicación de Lima la horrible, en 1964, Salazar Bondy ya había centrado su atención en los procesos...

A mí me cabe la certeza de que la música –y hablo en particular del rock– me ayudó a entender quién era y en qué me diferenciaba de los que iban al trabajo vestidos de saco y corbata, los aparentes dueños de este mundo que criaron a sus hijos como ellos habían sido criados y que decían amar a su país y pensaron que nos legarían una sociedad más justa. The Storyteller, by Mario Vargas Llosa, published in 1987, suggests throughout its pages a project of ethnographic fictionalization consisting on “making talk” a character of the Machiguenga culture —"the storyteller"—, by staging certain mechanisms of orality raised by Walter Ong for the so-called primary oral cultures. This paper examines these mechanisms as well as the displacement made by the author in order to have a more authentic fictionalization of the protagonist: Raúl Zuratas. Esta investigación propone una aproximación a la obra poética del escritor peruano después de su muerte. En sus artículos, Salazar Bondy formula las bases de una poética entre cuyos tópicos recurrentes destacan la reflexión acerca del lenguaje poético, así como el papel del poeta en la sociedad moderna, entre otros aspectos. Estas concepciones son analizadas en el poema más representativo de su obra, “Todo esto es mi país” y demuestran la coherencia de un proyecto poético al cual la crítica más reciente solo se ha aproximado esporádicamente.

Cinco textos del libro Staccatos (2014) del poeta y músico peruano Alejandro Susti, en el que efectúa un repaso mental por diversos momentos de su memoria.
