La presente investigación tuvo como objetivo determinar la influencia del uso del Portafolio del estudiante en el Rendimiento Académico de la asignatura de Diagnóstico de enfermedades bucales prevalentes en la Facultad de Estomatología de la Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia. Esta es una investigación de tipo cuantitativa con diseño cuasi experimental, para lo cual se aplicó un instrumento para evaluar el rendimiento académico en la asignatura Diagnóstico de las enfermedades bucales prevalentes en dos momentos: pre test y post test. La muestra de estudio estuvo constituida por 57 estudiantes conformadas por dos grupos, un grupo experimental de 28 estudiantes y el grupo control de 29 estudiantes. Objective. Evaluate the self perception of dentistry graduates regarding the achievement of generic competences at the end of professional training. Methods. Quantitative approach, descriptive design, cross-sectional study. It was applied a structured survey comprised of three dimensions to 137 graduates 2016-2017 period. Four levels of achievement of competence were established (N1, N2, N3, and N4). Results. The commitment to personal and professional development; the commitment and responsibility with the social environment and the environment, as well as the demonstration of behavior and ethical commitment were the most reported competences in level 4, with values of 83.9%, 81.8% and 79.6% respectively. 54% of the graduates considered to be in level 3 with according to the competence of solving problems with scientific rigor.
