We prospectively studied 237 users of combined oral contraceptives, evaluating changes in catamenia and endometrial histological findings. progressive decline of the rule which in some cases to amenorrhea, and spotting was found in the first cycles of treatment. In the histological study of the endometrium it was taken as parameter changes in the glandular epithelium, stroma and vessels. The epithelium was a large percentage of glandular atrophy. In the stroma he predominated predecidual metaplasia and edema; Total found no fibrosis, and vascular changes predominant vascular dilation and less prominence. The decline of the menstrual flow is directly related to the findings described; also produced endometrial atrophy is completely reversible, since no fibrous lesion, but this is due to the reduction of glandular and stromal components. No photo found premalignancy or neoplastic lesions.

Background: Tubo-ovarian abscess (TOA) is the response of female genitalia to focus infection; the abscess capsule allows perpetuation of the infection by isolation of germs and reduces antibiotics performance, becoming necessary surgical intervention as part of the problem solution. TOA is sequel of septic abortion, pelvic inflammatory disease (PID), and less frequently due to puerperal infection. Abscess rupture can be mortal. Objectives: To determine variation of tubo-ovarian abscess prevalence at a Peruvian national hospital since 1970 through 2010. Design: Retrospective study. Setting: Hospital Arzobispo Loayza, Lima, Peru. Participants: Women with tubo-ovarian abscess. Interventions: Review of clinical charts of patients with tubo-ovarian abscess and determination of the cause and variation throughout time. Main outcome measures: Prevalence and causes of tuboovarian abscess during ...

We report a case of a 95 year-old woman, from Oxapampa, Peru, with fourth degree prolapsed uterus infested with dipterous larvae. Myiasis is an infestation of the human tissue produced by flies´ larvae, or maggots, which feed on the host´s living or dead tissue, liquid body substances or ingested food. This is a rare condition and there has been only two cases reported in the literature. Maggots were removed manually, instilled with a combination de Coumaphos 300 mg, Propoxur 20 mg and Prontalbin 50 mg dusting powder, a veterinarian product, and treated with broad spectrum antibiotic.

Introduction: The surgical management of stress urinary incontinence uses the transobturator tape (TOT) technique since 2006. We present a study applying the suburethral tape as a better alternative that does not require the TOT needle. Objective: To demonstrate the advantages of the suburethral tape placement technique over the transobturator tape technique in the surgical treatment of stress urinary incontinence. Methods: Observational comparative study using the noninvasive suburethral tape placement versus the transobturator tape technique. Results: Fifty patients were treated with TOT for stress urinary incontinence and other 50 patients were managed with suburethral tape placement (UTP) in the previous shift the same day or the preceding day. The TOT patients were 56 years old on average, and time of the procedure was 18 minutes on average. Complications included pain in the inguin...
