  Drought is one of the main limitations of agricultural productivity and food security, in Andean mountain. The use of atmospheric nitrogen-fixing rhizobia in symbiosis with legumes, and tolerant to a wide range of adverse conditions, such as drought, is a great potential in sustainable agriculture. The aim of this review is to compile studies about drought stress effect on the legume-rhizobia symbiosis and rhizobia mechanisms to induce drought tolerance in legumes. The search for information was conducted from August to December 2020, using key terms. The drought effect on the nodulation  and atmospheric nitrogen fixation process is made known, as well as the rhizobia ability to synthesize exopolysaccharides, enzymes, phytohormones, siderophores, osmolytes and solubilize phosphates as induction mechanisms to mitigate drought stress in legumes. El presente estudio se realizó con el objetivo de evaluar el efecto de 19 cepas de Rhizobium en la germinación y en el crecimiento de plantas de Lycopersicon esculentum. El efecto de los rizobios sobre la germinación de las semillas se determinó inoculando las semillas con suspensiones densas de rizobio y dejándolas germinar en arena esterilizada. El efecto sobre el crecimiento del cultivo se estudió en condiciones de cámara de crecimiento, utilizando suelo franco arenoso, con pH 7.3. El diseño utilizado fue completamente al azar con 21 tratamientos (19 cepas, un control sin inocular y un control con fertilización química) y cuatro repeticiones. The effect of Scleroderma verrucosum (Vaill) Pers and Rhizopogon luteolus Fr. & Nordh. was evaluated on the morphological and biological quality of Pinus radiata D. Don plants in a nursery in Vilcashuaman, Ayacucho, Peru. Treatments: (1) Mycorrhization with Scleroderma verrucosum, (2) Mycorrhization with Rhizopogon luteolus, (3) Mixture of both fungi, and (4) Control, in a completely randomized design with 10 repetitions per treatment. The fungi came from local Pinus radiata and Eucalyptus globulus forests. The inoculation was carried out in the peal at 30 days of sowing and the evaluation at 7.5 months after the peal. The mycorrhizal pines outperformed the control with significant differences in all the variables evaluated.
