Transportation is the sector that has contributed the most to the generation of greenhouse gases (GHG) in Peru, representing 40% of energy-related emissions. For this purpose, it is necessary to promote the energy transition as a process to reduce dependence on fossil fuels and increase the use of renewable energy resources (RER) in this sector. The challenge consists in electrification, and in an electrical matrix based mainly on the RERs. Therefore, the objective of this research has been to analyze the energy policies of the main Peruvian public entities related to the environment, energy and transportation, in order to evaluate the level of progress on the energy transition goals for transportation. As a conclusion, it has been identified that, although there are estimations of national energy consumption and supported future projections, the documents do not contain in detail the el...

The objective of this research is to analyze the characteristics and behaviors of the mobility to work of a group of workers in the Metropolitan Area of Lima and Callao, in order to propose guidelines for the implementation of the Company Displacement Plans (PDE) as public policy to manage travel demand. Therefore, a case study applied to 168 workers distributed in 31 public and private organizations was carried out. Surveys and interviews were applied as tools to collect quantitative and qualitative information on mobility. The information processing allowed to characterize the sample and determine the travel rate that is equivalent to 3.6 trips/day (including all modes of transport and travel reasons), of which on average 1.3 trips/day are for work and 1.4 trips / day is preferably made by public transport. Based on this and other characteristics of land use and transport of work...

Transportation is the sector with the highest Greenhouse Gasses (GHG) emissions in Peru, and it is almost completely dependent on fossil energy resources. For the present analysis, we take into account carbon emissions during the production of electricity which may serve as a basis for understanding the carbon footprint (CF) of the alternatives that may be derived from the use of electrical vehicles. Based on the estimated values of emissions according to the type of electricity generation source (renewable or thermal), we have created scenarios to calculate emissions under the condition of electromobility. The CF of the combustion vehicle is 180 gCO2eq/pas-km, while the CF of electric vehicles with renewable energy, national electricity and fossil electricity are 12, 89 and 140 gCO2eq/pas-km respectively. The reduction of CO2 emissions eq. with renewable electrical energy is 93%, while ...
