The purpose of this study was to analyze the manifestations of Burnout syndrome in a particular group of health workers, therapeutic attendants. In addition, coping strategies are studied, both in general terms and specific strategies of the profession, and its relationship with symptoms of the syndrome. The sample consisted of 17 professionals from Córdoba (Argentina) of both sexes (41.2% males), aged between 22 and 53 years (M=29.53 years,SD=7.43). The prevalence of different symptoms of the syndrome is discussed considering different criteria of cut, with mixed results; while relations with the coping strategies were only evident among some dimension.

This paper reviews basic concepts of emotional process and its development during childhood, focusing on the particularities that occur in children with autism spectrum disorders. The interrelation between theory of intersubjectivity and theory of mind is emphasized; it allows obtaining a more accurate picture of this disorder.

The tripartite model proposed by Feagin (1972) is widely used, although empirical evidence does not always support it. Thus, we set out to obtain empirical evidence on the psychometric properties of a pool of items on causes of poverty using CTT and IRT. In this research/study, 280 citizens of Córdoba from 18 to 65 years old participated. Results from confirmatory factor analysis and internal consistency showed acceptable values for the three-factor models. Results derived from IRT indicate that, in general, the items estimate a wide range of values of the latent traits, discriminating between people with different levels of trait. The need to gather new empirical evidence of Feagin’s proposal using complementary methods is highlighted.

The Rational Experiential Inventory consist of two large scales (rational and experiential), each one with two subscales (ability and engagement). Their psychometric properties have been studied in several countries, but there are no reports in the Latin American context. In this study we analyzed the factor structure and internal consistency of the Rational Experiential Inventory, and assessed the relationships between processing styles and different personality dimensions in a sample of students from Argentina. The results show an underlying two factorstructure with good internal consistency values. Only one significant relationshipbetween experiential style and extraversion was observed. A version with fewer items was attained and, due to its adequate psychometric properties, this instrument may be used in future research studies.

The objective of this work was to develop and validate a scale of attitudes towards people from different social classes in citizens of Gran Córdoba (Argentina) aged 18 to 65 years. A bank of 34 items was constructed and three identical versions were designed in which what varies is the evaluated group (high, middle or low class). The factor analysis showed a structure of two negatively correlated factors in the three versions of the scale. Specifically, one factor refers to positive emotions, beliefs and behaviors, while the other factor refers to negative emotions and beliefs towards people from different social classes. In addition, the results indicated adequate internal consistency for the three versions of the instrument.

This study examines the psychometric properties of the Matson Evaluation of Social Skills with Youngsters (Matson, Rotatori & Helsel, 1983), which assesses specific social skills involved in adaptive and non-adaptive behaviors. The factor structure and internal consistency were studied in a sample of children from Cordoba (n = 578) of 7 to 13 years old (M = 9.48, SD = 1.47) of both sexes (52.77% males). An exploratory study of data and variables was conducted; then the factor structure was studied. Results suggest that the structure of five factors was the simplest and theoretically most consistent: Aggressiveness/Antisocial Behavior, Appropriate Social Skills, Friendship, Overconfidence/Jealousy/Pride and Loneliness/ Social Anxiety. The internal consistent coefficients were good or acceptable in most dimensions. Gender differences observed in the dimensions and total score provide e...

The aim of this study was to analyze the role of different socioeconomic backgrounds in tax compliance behavior at different tax rates. Additionally, we examine the effect of the source of income (whether if it is earned or endowed) on tax behavior. In the first study, students from Argentina and Spain performed an anagram task to earn profits and then they declared their earnings at different tax rates. In the second study, students from Argentina were endowed with an income at the beginning of the experiment and then they declared their earnings at different tax rates. Significant cross-cultural differences were observed at high tax rates. Also, when income was earned, participants declared significant more than when de income was endowed. The results show the importance to consider sociocultural aspects when making public policy and the role of income source in tax behavior.
