The burnout syndrome has negative consequences over employees in different areas. However, little is stated regarding its specific prevalence in the academic area. The present study seeks to define the prevalence of burnout in teachers and students as presented in the literature. A systematic review is conducted to research the prevalence of the burnout syndrome and its dimensions on the education sector, regarding both teachers and students. 1547 unique references were found, within which 59 reported information on the prevalence of the burnout syndrome in the population of interest. The proportion of high levels of each dimension showed to be higher in students than in teachers. However, the prevalence of the syndrome itself showed opposite results, being more frequent in teachers (Median = 19.8%) than in students (Median = 14.4%). Burnout research is affected by some limitations; part...

This research explores the possible influence of the big five personality factors and the susceptibility to social influence on the susceptibility to accept fake news (disinformation). The understanding of this phenomenon due to individual differences is a barely researched subject. Nevertheless, the massive spread of false information on social media and its consequences show the importance of this research. The research used a fake news task, adapted versions of the SPTS (Susceptibility to Persuasion Scale), and the Mini-IPIP (International Personality Item Pool) as measurement tools. Using multiple linear regression analysis, it also assessed two models to predict susceptibility to accept fake news. The results show that certain personality traits and susceptibility to social influence may be useful predictors of the dependent variable, particularly in the context of social influence ...

This research explores the relation between the big five personality factors and the susceptibility to social influence with the susceptibility to accept fake news (disinformation). The understanding of this phenomenon due to individual differences is a barely researched subject. Nevertheless, the massive spread of false information on social media, and its consequences, show the importance of this research. The measurement tools used include a Fake News task, adapted versions of the SPTS (Susceptibility to Persuasion Scale) and the Mini-IPIP (International Personality Item Pool). The psychometric properties of the scores obtained with these scales were examined through the Factorial Analysis and the omega reliability index. Furthermore, by means of a multiple linear regression analysis, two models to predict susceptibility to accept fake news were assessed. The results show that certain...

Sports fanaticism is a non-highly studied concept, so instruments that evaluate this variable are relatively scarce. The current study aimed to obtain the psychometric properties of the first Spanish version of the Sports Fanaticism Scale (SFS) in Peruvian adults. 386 people participated (M=29.1 years, SD=12.1). Evidence of content validity was obtained through expert judgment (Vaverage =.84). The hierarchical model presented better fit indices for the EFD compared to a unidimensional model (RMSEA =.137; SRMR =.088; TLI =.939; CFI =.954). Convergent and divergent validity were determined through the association with relevant variables (r = -.296 -.446; AVE =.692 -.779; CR =.783 -.907). Acceptable internal consistency coefficients were obtained for general factor as dimensions (¿ =.67 -.92). EFD is an instrument that meets current psychometric standards.

The COVID-19 pandemic had a strong impact on mental health. Multiple studies report the alarming prevalence of depression, anxiety, and stress-related conditions due to the lockdown measures. Nevertheless, somatization has been an overlooked topic in current literature despite its strong relationship with most mental health conditions. The aim of this study was to describe the prevalence of somatic symptoms and their associated factors in a sample of 3218 undergraduate students from Lima, Peru. A cross-sectional design was carried out. The prevalence of somatic symptoms was measured with the PHQ-15. As predictors of somatic symptom severity, we included psychopathological (depression, anxiety, and stress), psychological (perceived social support, resilience, satisfaction with life, and academic self-efficacy), and sociodemographic (e.g., age, sex, employment status, relationship status, ...
