El Mecanismo de Desarrollo Limpio (MDL) del Protocolo de Kyoto o mercado del carbono, tiene por finalidad contribuir a la gestión de futuros proyectos MDL en el sector energético de nuestro país, contribuyendo a la reducción de gases de efecto invernadero (GEI), haciendo viables proyectos de este tipo, dinamizando la economía nacional y potenciando los conocimientos y la actividad de los profesionales dedicados al área ambiental; asimismo, los proyectos MDL permiten obtener financiamiento para proyectos de desarrollo, que involucran reducción de GEI, haciéndolos viables.
