Objetivo. El presente estudio tiene como finalidad determinar la asociación entre el acceso a servicios odontológicos y el derecho a la salud en el Perú durante el año 2015. Materiales y métodos. Para este trabajo, sirvieron como materiales la Encuesta Demográfica y de Salud Familiar (ENDES) 2015 y la Encuesta de Satisfacción de Usuarios en Salud (EnSusalud) 2015. El diseño del estudio fue de tipo ecológico. En él, se emplearon las dos variables mencionadas: el acceso a servicios odontológicos y el derecho a la salud. En principio, se ejecutó un análisis descriptivo de las variables cualitativas. Con ello, se obtuvieron las frecuencias absolutas y relativas, las cuales fueron organizadas en tablas y gráficos. El objetivo de este artículo es revisar información enfocada al diagnóstico y tratamiento temprano de la retención canina (RC); comprenderemos el proceso de erupción normal y las posibles etiologías de su retención; del mismo modo, describiremos la erupción del canino maxilar permanente (CMP) y los eventos que explican por qué la secuencia de erupción en la Segunda Fase de Dentición Mixta (SFDM) en el maxilar, finalmente presentaremos un conjunto de herramientas diagnósticas útiles en la predicción temprana de la retención canina, los cuales permiten estimar la duración y pronóstico del tratamiento.

Ankylosis is a dental anomaly of unknown etiology that causes bone bridges between the root cement and the alveolar bone that can lead to different dental problems. The objective of this case report is to present interceptive orthodontic treatment for a class I malocclusion in a 7-year-old boy. This treatment was proposed considering that the patient presented incomplete first phase mixed dentition and the clinical absence of teeth 55, 85, 16 and 46. Two ankylosed deciduous teeth were extracted and the occlusal face of the permanent teeth was operculectomy. The headgear was used in the maxilla and the labioactive plate or lip Bumper in the mandible, which made it possible to recover the space lost for the correct eruption of the permanent pieces. Early intervention through treatment allows partial correction of the malocclusion and prevents the problem from worsening.
