The true identity of Brachistosternus peruvianus Piza, 1974, a controversial Andean scorpion previously confused with Brachistosternus andinus Chamberlin, 1916, is established. Both species inhabit inter Andean valleys of southern Peru and belong to the subgenus Brachistosternus (Ministernus) Francke. A detailed redescription of both species based on external morphology, pigmentation pattern and hemispermatophore features are provided. New records for these species, along with brief discussions of the ecology and distribution are also reported.

New evidence on the presence of the Machupicchu Arboreal Chinchilla Rat (Cuscomys oblativus: Abrocomidae) from Machupicchu Historic Sanctuary are reported, using camera tramps during april 2018 to april 2019. 67 photographic records were obtained in five mountain forest localities between 2842 and 3413 meters of altitude. All the records correspond to adult specimens and present nocturnal habits with more activity from 10 pm to 04 am. At the moment, no records are known of C. oblativus outside the Machupicchu, being one of the three endemic mammal species of the protected natural area.

Se establece la verdadera identidad de Brachistosternus peruvianus Piza, 1974, un controversial escorpión an-dino, previamente confundido con Brachistosternus andinus Chamberlin, 1916. Ambas especies habitan en valles interandinos del sur del Perú, y pertenecen al subgénero Brachistosternus (Ministernus) Francke. Se presenta una detallada redescripción para ambas especies basada en la morfología externa, patrones de pigmentación y caracteres del hemispermatóforo. Se reportan también nuevos registros y una breve discusión sobre la ecología y distribución de estas dos especies.

The biochemistry of the venom of Tityus kaderkai Kovařik, 2005 from Madre de Dios department, has been studied. The soluble venom contains 47.6% of protein. The venom proteins were separated from 12.9 mg of venom using cationic exchange chromatography in CM Sephadex C-25 with a 0.05 M ammonium acetate buffer pH 7.0. The chromatography profiles show seven peaks of proteins (I – VII) and five protein bands were distinguished in the crude venom, by PAGE-SDS. The toxicity assays allowed the identification of three toxins affecting Mus musculuswhich were associated to peaks IV, V and VII. Toxic proteins to Gryllus sp. were also found associated to peaks IV, V, VI and VII. Through the enzymatic activity, the presence of proteolytic activity over casein was found related to the first peak. Hyaluronidase activity has also been found in the peak IV with a specific activity 205.6 μg/min/mg. Ho...

Acanthoscurria sacsayhuaman sp. nov. (Araneae: Theraphosidae) is described based on a male from Cusco, Peru. The new species is characterized by the absence of stridulatory bristles on retrolateral face of palpal trochanter. Moreover, it can be distinguished by morphology of the male palpal bulb and tibial apophysis of the first pair of legs. The genus is recorded for the first time for Peru.

Se describe Acanthoscurria sacsayhuaman sp. nov. (Araneae: Theraphosidae) en base a un macho proveniente de Cusco, Perú. Esta especie se diferencia del resto de las especies del género por la ausencia de setas estriduladoras en la cara retrolateral del trocánter del pedipalpo. Además, puede separarse por la forma del bulbo del macho y la apófisis tibial del primer par de patas. Se registra por primera vez el género para Perú.
