The author studies the scissors dancers 01 Huancavelica, Peru. Associating fieldwork and the review 01 16'/J Century documents, Rodrigo Montoya seeks lo specify (he relation between vitality and depletion in the past and present of the dance, the links between witchcraft and dance, among gods and devils. The materials gathered in his previous works in other cities and Andean villages and the interviews 01direct actors allow him to think over and to postu/ate a set 01 propositions on the interrelationships between society, music, dances and catholic festivities from the perspective 0f historical Anthropology.

this article presents the results obtained in field work in the year 2002 and it campares structural and cultural aspects of the institutions and inhabitants of the Peasant Commning of Pacaraos registered previously in 1962. Aften presenting sythetically the academic vicissitudes of the anthropological expedition of a group of students from San Marcos in this same Andean space,it examines and analyzes the changes taken place in the agricultural educational, local governmental and health dimensions and the limits of thye functionality of a peasant commmnity. Finally, it proposes a set of ideas for action so that the authotities of Pacaraos can find a way out of the current crisis in which they live

After a long time of the Peruvian Reality Research in the Andes, the Amazon, Lima and Villa El Salvador, and various periods of field work in Mexico, Ecuador and Bolivia. Discovering the political process of the Zapatistas in Chiapas and Political Movements indigenous in Ecuador and Bolivia, in which the established order is questioned and new horizons are offered, not only for Indigenous Peoples and our countries, also Chinese for the whole world a Fo-llowing is the vision of Peru from an anthropological reflection that can either be extended to all the Social Sciences and Humanities. Following the path that the discipline of anthropology has traveled in Peru throughout the Twentieth Century in relationship to other social and political processes that the country and Latin America faced, the author reflects upon the burgeoning of a critical thought in the anthropologies of Latin America and how critical we are of the different social sciences and what these do or fail to do with regards to the problems presented by reality to the inhabitants of each of these countries.

By reviewing the academic and political biography of Anibal Quijano, this article reflects around the socialization of power, one of the Peruvian thinker’s proposals, during his second intellectual stage. It begins with his formation, to highlight his initial adherence to Marxism, his sociological production, his commitment and political militancy through the Socialist Revolutionary Movement, the creation of Sociedad y Política magazine, inter alia. This goes hand in hand with two key events in the socio-historical Peruvian process: the emergence of Villa El Salvador and the formation of the Left Revolutionary Alliance. Events to which Quijano’s attention was no stranger.

The essay traces a political and historical review of inner trends in the Latin American welfare-oriented government. On the one hand, the case of Brazil, which is undergoing severe political crisis.
