Bajo el término humanidades solía entenderse en el Renacimiento europeo el cultivo de las perfecciones atribuidas a la Antigüedad clásica. Más ampliamente, el término designa aquellas disciplinas y saberes que complementan las actividades lucrativas con sensibilidad estética, conciencia histórica y discernimiento ético.

Este artículo destaca el valor heurístico de la dimensión implícito-explícito en el estudio de la conducta manifiesta y elabora algunos aspectos de su relevancia en la investigación psicoterapéutica. Por conducta implícita se entiende aquel comportamiento manifi esto, tanto informativo como comunicativo, que no se entiende mediante las pautas y normas de lo lingüísticamente organizado y posee una semántica y una pragmática que apelan a la experiencia intuitiva. Dentro de la categoría de lo implícito se consideran conductas motoras, mensajes emanados de la gestualidad y elementos del habla que no se reducen al contenido verbal.

After conceptualizing biomedical and psychosocial research as a social practice involving numerous actors, this article concentrates on subjects (or participants) in experiments, observations, studies and pharmacological trials, emphasizing the scarce attention which their attribvutes have received despite the implicit and explicit recognition of their importance in knowledge production. The need to specify traits and characters of the “volunteer” and their decisive influence on psychological and social studies is emphasized.

In this paper, the author recalls his years as a student at Heidelberg, Germany, in what has come to been known as the “School of Heidelberg”. The author presents the ideas and significance of Paul Christian, his mentor, and the ideas of thinkers such as Ludolf von Kehrl and Viktor von Weizsäcker. Extensive discussion is dedicated to the meaning of the concept of anthropological medicine and to the intellectual relationship of the author with Paul Christian.

In this study, the author analyzes a series of considerations regarding the ethical aspects of using psychoactive substances, which he classifies into three types: medical or therapeutic, recreational, and performance-enhancing. He also discusses the problems around self-administration and administration by others of such substances. Psychoactive substances have given rise to long and thorough researches, assays and uses, in which economic factors play an important role, and have modified our knowledge of human nature. Therefore, it is urgent to discuss the ethical and legal aspects of their future use.

La voluntad anticipada en salud mental (VASM) constituye un derecho de la persona con trastorno mental, para que de manera previsora acepte o rechace tratamientos que en el futuro pueda requerir de los servicios de atención médica. Objetivo: Describir las especificaciones contenidas en las regulaciones de las VASM en algunos países latinoamericanos que cuentan con legislación en salud mental, que permitan su realización. Método: Se llevó a cabo un análisis comparativo de las normativas vigentes sobre salud mental que incluyen las VASM en Argentina, Chile, México y Perú, considerando: 1) concepción de las VASM; 2) requisitos de las VASM, y 3) características del modo de obtención.
