During studies of helminth parasites of Australoheros facetus (Jenyns, 1842) collected in the Pampulha dam, Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, Brazil, in June and July 2011, it was verified the natural infection of these fishes by larval cestodes. From 20 specimens of A. facetus analyzed, 13 (65%) presented metacestodes in the intestine, with the mean intensity 2.69 (1-7) and mean abundance 1.8 (0-7). After morphological characterization, the parasites were identified as Parvitaenia macropeos (Wedl, 1855). This is the first report of metacestodes of Parvitaenia in Brazil and P. macropeos in South America. Australoheros facetus is a new host known for P. macropeos.

Strongyloides cruzi Rodrigues, 1968 was found in Ophiodes striatus (Spix, 1825) from Itabirito, state of Minas Gerais, Brazil. The morphology of the nematodes obtained was briefly described and compared with previous reports of Strongyloides spp. from lizards. Taxonomic comments about these parasites are presented and a species of Strongyloides, a genus whose members have rarely been reported in lizards, is for the first time observed in an anguid reptile.

Malacological surveys were carried out in lakes located near the São Francisco River or its tributaries in Iguatama, Minas Gerais, Brazil, between July 2009 and September 2010. Of 2.609 specimens of Biomphalaria straminea (Dunker, 1848) collected, 14 (0.54%) were infected by amphistomecercariae. Metacercariae obtained in solid subtract were used to perform experimental infection of AKR/J strain of mice. It was verified the presence of eggs of the parasite in the feces of the mice 30 days after infection. Adult parasites recovered from the intestinal caecum were identified as Zygocotyle lunata (Diesing, 1836). This is the first report of Z. lunata in B. straminea from Brazil.
