The odontogenic myxoma is a benign lesion that occurs mostly between the second and fourth decade of life, more frequently in the molar area and with a higher incidence in men than in women (2:1). Histologically, it presents starred and fusiform cells dispersed in a very abundant myxoid matrix. The objective of this article is to report a clinical case of an odontogenic myxoma, as well as a brief review of the literature. Subject: a 39-year-old female patient who attended the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery clinic due to an increase in volume located in the jaw in the vestibular area between teeth 31 and 44; asymptomatic at palpation, with an evolution of approximately twelve months. An incisional biopsy was performed for the histopathological study. The result of the histopathological study was an odontogenic myxoma, so we decided that the best treatment was a free margin resection and r...

In this aticle it is showns that it is possible to make a digital prosthesis with Polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) with free programs and a low-cost and easy-to-use 3D printer. The clinical case corresponds to a 38-year-old male who reported having undergone emergency surgery for a subdural hematoma of traumatic origin, secondary to a fall from a 5-meter-high scaffolding, procedure done by the Neurosurgery Service with a decompressive craniotomy 10 months ago, nowadays he presents a bilateral defect at the supraorbital and frontal region, referring constant headaches and dizziness with a diagnosis of a trephination syndrome. We decided to digitally design a prosthesis with PMMA, placing it under balanced general anesthesia in the operating room through a coronal approach, fixing it with titanium screws and repositioning tissues with sutures. The visual defect was immediately eliminated, the...

Sialadenitis is defined as an inflammation of the major salivary glands and has multiple etiologies. this article reported the case of a 17-year-old girl treated in the Maxillofacial Surgery service of the “Hospital General la Perla”. The patient presents an increase in volume in the right submandibular region, she reports 5 months of evolution, 12 days of antibiotic/analgesic treatment, and persistent symptoms. The requested tomographic study shows an isodense that suggests increased volume at the right submandibular gland. Due to the correlation between clinical and imaging presentation, chronic sialadenitis is diagnosticated. The patient is prepared to go to the operating room to remove the affected gland. Under general anesthesia, submandibular access, and dissection the submandibulectomy was achieved. The suture by planes is with Vicryl 3-0 and Nylon 5-0. The controls conducted ...
