El presente estudio, tuvo como propósito conocer y comprender la figura histórica y política que el Varayoq representó en la época del Tawantinsuyo, la colonia española y la época republicana en la provincia de Quispicanchi región de Cusco, examinando así la representación tradicional actual, y el valor cultural que le da hoy la comunidad a la figura del Varayoq. La metodología empleada en la investigación, fue de tipo descriptiva – explicativa, de enfoque cualitativo y método etnográfico, las técnicas utilizadas fueron la entrevista y la revisión bibliográfica referente al contexto histórico del Varayoq. Estudiar las actitudes lingüísticas de los estudiantes universitarios hacia el quechua se hace necesario para entender el posible escenario para la mantención y recuperación del idioma quechua en el Cusco, en particular en la UNSAAC la cual tiene una creciente población estudiantes quechuahablante.
