Activity, microhabitat use, and diet are patterns commonly used to define the saurian community structure, because of differential exploitation allowing coexistence at the same time and place. We analyze resource partitioning between two sympatric saurian species, Stenocercus puyango and Microlophus occipitalis, in the transitional area of the Pacific Tropical Forest and the Dry Forest inside Cerros de Amotape National Park (PNCA) in Tumbes, northwestern of Peru. This paper presents different strategies available for the delivery of family planning services, and describes in detail post partum contraception with emphasis in the intrauterine device (IUD). It presents the world and national experiences and the results of the first operative research performed in the country in nine public hospitals (5 from in the Peruvian Social Security Institute and 4 from the Ministry of Health). The study compares the results obtained in the surveys during prenatal and post partum care and the follow up carried out in an aleatory sample of patients and users. The results reveal the strategv is acceptable, safe and cost effective, and will increase prevalence of long lasting methods with low failure rates. Ultrasound has represented an important tool in the diagnosis of gynecological pathologies. With the addition of Doppler color these possibilities have improved. Doppler color gives us the opportunity to know the vascular pattern of certain pathologies, and through the wave flow spectral analysis we know the velocity and the resistance of certain waves in various diseases. Doppler color and transvaginal ultrasound allow a level of understanding and diagnosis of pelvic physiology and pathology. In this article we review advances in three specific fields: study of the menstrual cycle and infertility; differential diagnosis of ectopic pregnancy; and diagnosis of malignancy in ovarian tumors.

In Latin America, the first months of 2016 were marked by the increasing reports of microcephaly, which was shortly afterwards shown to have been caused by the Zika virus. Initially, its transmission was typified as metaxenic (caused by the Dengue mosquito Aedes aegypti); later, evidences of sexual transmission were detected. Thus, the Ministry of Health of Peru required to evaluate the response capacity of the reproductive health services to needs and critical knots and to draft a plan to improve the offer.
