Objective: Compare in vitro the apical seal of thermoplastic filling systems, GuttaCore® and E&Q Master®, from the perspective of microfiltration. Methods: Forty single-rooted teeth were instrumented with rotary system and irrigated with 2.5% sodium hypochlorite and 17% EDTA. The samples were divided into two groups (20 for each system); sealed and placed in the incubator at 37°C and 100% humidity for 3 days. Each sample was covered with colored varnish except the last 3 apical millimiters to be immersed in 2% methylene blue for 3 days and centrifuged for 20 min at 3000 rpm. The samples were washed and fractured axially for their analysis in the stereomicroscope by means of photographs. For the data analysis we used the t Student test with a level of significance of 5%. Results: The mean microfiltration values were 0.660 mm and 0.825 mm for GuttaCore and E&Q Master respectivel...

Despite the measures implemented worldwide, the spread of the new SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus is on the rise, which is why it is important to know the characteristics of the disease, as well as different considerations to take into account in dental clinical management. This pandemic obliges all health professionals to know their epidemiological characteristics, in order to generate preventive measures and care protocols that are necessary and important in these cases, respecting the biosafety regulations in order to avoid contagions between patient-professionals and professionals-patients. In the dental area, most clinical procedures are related to the direct contact of aerosols, which are a considerable source of contamination, which is why in this work a review of the epidemiological aspects of COVID-19 and the care to be taken in dental care.

Objective: To determine the apical microfiltration of three cements used in retrograde obturation. Methods: 45 monoradicular pieces standardized to 16 mm in length were instrumented with manual ProTaper® system and irrigated with 5.25% NaClO. The samples were sealed with ProTaper® F3 main cone and Denstply® accessories #A and #B; an apical recession of 3 mm was performed, subsequently a 3 mm of obturation was removed with ultrasound (Satelec Acteon) using tip s12/70D; the samples were divided into three groups to perform retrograde filling, each with different sealing cements. The samples were incubated at 37°C for 3 days; then covered with nail varnish except 2 mm apical to be immersed in 1% methylene blue for 48 hours, washed and longitudinally cut with #2 diamond disc for analysis in the stereo microscope (EduBlue ED 1402S), with the help of a micrometer (Stainless Hardened); diff...

Objective. To evaluate the wear (roughness) and topographic changes of the Wave One Gold primary and Reciproc Blue R25 files after instrumentation at 3, 6 and 9 uses in curved canals. Methods. Ex vivo study, consisting of 10 new Reciproc Blue R25 and 5 Wave One Gold primary reciprocating files and 46 mandibular first molars with severe curvature. Molars were divided into 2 groups (23 molars in each group): group 1 Reciproc Blue R25/.08 and group 2 Wave One Gold Primary (25/.07). Reciprocating files from the two groups were analyzed with the contact profilometer at 0, 3, 6 and 9 uses. The measurement was made in the apical, middle, and coronal thirds, and in each analysis, 2 files were observed with the Scanning Electron Microscope. Subsequently, the analysis in the SPSS version 26 IBM ® program was performed using t-Student and Anova tests for normality (p<0.05). Results. There is no...
