We used the fluocortolono, synthetic derivative of corticosterone in a single morning dose adjunctive corticosteroid medication along with TB treatment in 12 patients with pleurisy serofibrinous, 4 with meningitis and 2 with miliary tuberculous sow: combination therapy allowed rapid remission of inflammatory exudative component of the symptomatology, radiological abnormalities and decreased length of hospitalization. The aforementioned steroid has a good anti-inflammatory effect with lower potential to produce Cushing syndrome compared to other similar synthetic corticosteroids. The rare and little heavy to use under the scheme employed secondary manifestations not determined the dose reduction and even less treatment discontinuation.

We report the case of a 49-year-old patient with morbid obesity in whom a hydatid cyst in the left ventricle was detected by means of a thoracic CT scan. The cyst was excised through a left submammary thoracothomy without using extracorporeal circulation. Pathological anatomy studies evidenced the presence of scolices on the hydatid membrane. After being followed-up for one year, the patient does not have any cardiac-respiratory symptom, and there is no evidence of cardio-thoracic hydatidosis.
