This research was developed in response to the growing use of artificial intelligence-based technology in contrast to the lack of writing skills among students beginning their university studies. A non-probabilistic convenience sampling was carried out, including first-cycle students from any academic program and any university in the Lambayeque region. The methodology used was quantitative, with a non-experimental design. The technique employed was a survey, and the data collection instrument was the «Questionnaire to describe the use of ChatGPT in academic writing by university students» was used. The objective was to analyze the various contributions of narratology for the teaching of literature. The method used, within the framework of qualitative research, was the literature review. The results were oriented to three categories: the story in literary history, the story as a science: narratology, and narratology for the teaching of literature. The databases used were books linked to narrative theory, indexed journals, national and international theses repositories, and scientific articles. The search for information was oriented from the years of 1896 to the present, through a systematic, evolutionary and synchronous review. La educación del siglo XXI enfrenta una serie de exigencias caracterizadas por el desarrollo del conocimiento, el despliegue vertiginoso de las TIC, la cultura de la calidad y la competitividad, el cambio permanente en diferentes dimensiones asociadas al contexto.  La educación superior actualmente asume los grandes retos de formar profesionales capaces de responder con idoneidad a estas necesidades y desafíos, buscando garantizar una educación superior universitaria de calidad haciendo propio una cultura de evaluación y de mejora continua. Este artículo, asumiendo los procesos de licenciamiento y acreditación como medios de apoyo a la gestión institucional, comunica a manera de ensayo, un plan de monitoreo y evaluación curricular en una universidad privada, tratando de responder a las exigencias del Estado y la sociedad.
