In the present investigation a phitochemical study of Prezia multiflora(H et B) lees Escorsonera was accomplished in order to determine the presence of secondary metabolites. A botanic study of this specie has been made to indicate its systematic location and morfhological description.A chemical and pharmacological review of the mayor components, as flavonoids and alcaloids; has also been performed. TLC and preparative chromatography were done, ending with the separation of two flavonoids. The identification of the flavonoid (flavonone type) as 7-O-RHAMNOGLUCOSIDE-3',5- DIHYDROXY -4'METOXYFLAVANONE, was done by UV spectroscopy. The other one probably would be: 3',5,7-TRIDIHYDROXY -4' -METOXYFLAVANONE. Two alcaloids were also identified and their probable structure would be: 1,4-(1,3-PIPERIDIL-DIENO)-2,5-0XO-6-HYDROXY-2H,3H-INDOL-ETENO and 1,4-(1,3-PIPERIDIL-DIENO)-2,5-0XO-6-0-GLUCOSYL-2H...

It was carried out the comparative evaluation of three synthetic drugs used as oral hypoglycemiants, against the aqueous obtained by infusion of leaves from Smallantus sonchifolius (Poepp) Rob. Yacon , using a experimental biomodel by hypoglycemia in normoglycemic rats of species Rattus norvegicus Var. Albine. The object of the research was to observe the 10 % aqueous extract effect of Smallantus sonchifolius (Poepp) Rob. Yacon in the decay of glycemia against glibenclamide, c1orprofamide and metformine drugs that have great usage in the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM2). Se realizó 1a evaluación comparativa de tres fármacos de síntesis utilizados como hipoglicemiantes orales con el extracto acuoso obtenido por infusión de las hojas de Smallanthus sochifolíuS (Poepp) Rob. "yacón", utilizando un biomodelo experimental por hiperglicemia en ratas normoglucémicas de la especie Rattus norvegicus var. Albina. El objetivo de la investigación fue observar el efecto del extracto acuoso al 10% de las hojas de "yacón" en el descenso de la glicemia frente a la glibenclamida, clorpropamida y metformina, que tienen amplio uso en el tratamiento de la diabetes mellitus tipo 2 (DM2). A study of the essential oil extracted from the leaves and flowers of the Thymus vulgris L. ''Tomillo'' by stearn distillation method was carried out.
