La presente investigación tuvo como objetivo general determinar la relación entre la inteligencia emocional y el desempeño por competencias de los docentes de la I.E. Mentes Brillantes – Trujillo, 2014. Revalida un marco referencial sobre la inteligencia emocional y la relación con el desempeño por competencias de los docentes. Se utilizó el método observacional. Su población estuvo constituida por veinte docentes de la Institución. Utilizó la técnica de test para la primera variable cuyo instrumento fue el inventario emocionalde Bar On Ice y la encuesta para la segunda variable. This research had as general objective to determine the relation between emotional intelligence and the teachers’ performance based on their professional competencies in the Educative Institution Mentes Brillantes - Trujillo, 2014. It revalidates a referential framework about emotional intelligence and the relation with teachers’ performance based on their professional competencies. The observational method was applied. Its population was made up by twenty teachers from the institution mentioned above.
