This research aimed to analyze the psychometric evidences of the Brief silence Scale (BRS) in Peruvian university students. A total of 468 students from public and private universities participated, from which 62,6% were women and 37.4% were men aged 18-50 years old (M=23.97, SD=6.58). The confirmatory factor analysis confirmed the adjustment of the oblique model (CFI=.993; TLI=.987; RMSEA=.004; SRMR=.023) and adequate reliability values were obtained (α = .79 y ω = .85). Also, the criterion validity related to the same variable with the Brief Resilient Coping Scale (BRCS) was identified (r=.606); the Life Orientation Test (LOT – R) was used for convergent and divergent validity (r=.617) and the Depression Anxiety Stress Scale-21 (DASS-21), with correlation coefficients of r=-.546 for depression, r=-.515 for anxiety, and r=-.514 for stress. Finally, the invariance was analyzed by gen...

This study aims to establish the relationship between the psychological well being and the religious involvement and to find out the differences in the psychological well being among the different forms of religious involvement. The sample was composed of 297 students from a public university in Lima city. The psychological well being scale for adults (BIEPS, for its Spanish acronym) adapted to the Peruvian context was used to collect the data and a questionnaire created by the author. The results showed that there was no relationship between the psychological well being and the religious involvement. However, we found out that the psychological well being is significantly higher in the group with high religious involvement, which has active participation in religious groups, as well as in the projects component, in contrast to students with other levels and types of religious involvemen...

Objective: To create and validate a family resilience in caregivers relatives of people with disabilities (ERF-PD). Method: The research design is instrumental. The sampling was non probabilistic with a sample of 301 relatives of people with disabilities. Initially, 40 items were created but this number was reduced after the statistics analysis. Results: Aiken’s V values of 1.00 were obtained in all items. After the item analysis, nine items were removed. From the exploratory factor analysis, 17 items remained that explain 56.0% of the overall variance; whereas the confirmatory factor analysis obtained good fit indexes for this structure (Chi2/gl=1.876; CFI=0.982; TLI=0.979; RMSEA =0.037; SRMR=0.064). Internal consistency showed coefficients above 0.70 in the general scale and its three factors. Conclusion: The scale shows evidences of validity and reliability for the evaluated sample,...

This study was carried out with the aim of building a scale to quantify the relative frequency with which adolescents observe acts of violence. 860 high school students participated, 433 men and 427 women, aged 12 to 17 years. The 15 items showed adequate homogeneity, discrimination and community indexes. We found evidence of validity in relation to life satisfaction and empathy. The exploratory factor analysis reported that the five factors: observation of violence on the Internet, TV, street, school and home, explain 77.6% of variance. Confirmatory factor analysis showed the model fit of five correlated factors (CFI = .969, RMSEA = .051 and SRMR = .031). Finally, the coefficients Alpha ordinal (.964) and Omega (.957) demonstrate the reliability of the EOVA scale.

The study analyzed the relationship between attitudes towards machismo and emotional regulation, according to public and private university and sex; In a sample of 830 students, 405 men (48.8%) and 425 women (51.2%), aged between 18 and 32 years, who were examined with a data sheet, the Scale of Evaluation of Attitudes towards machismo and the Emotional Regulation Questionnaire. A positive and statistically significant relationship is found between the cognitive reappraisal strategy with the rejection of total machismo and an inverse relationship with suppression and the six areas of machismo. Likewise, there is an association, in women, between the rejection of machismo with cognitive and inverse and significant reevaluation with the suppression in both sexes. Those from public universities obtain a statistically significant and positive correlation between cognitive reappraisal and rej...
