Brown algae are a source of high content of polysaccharides such as fucoidans that have important immunomodulatory properties. The aim was to determine the viability of human peripheral blood mononuclear cells (hPBMC), production of nitric oxide (NO), reactive oxygen species (ROS) and the proinflammatory cytokines IL-1α, IL-6, TNF-α and IFN -γ in cultures treated with fucoidan from Lessonia trabeculata. Fucoidan from Lessonia trabeculata from San Nicolás de Marcona-Ica Bay was used. The hPBMC were isolated using Ficoll-Hypaque, distributed at a concentration of 1x105 cells/well in complete RPMI-1640 medium and treated with different concentrations of fucoidan for 24 and 48 h. Determina la expresión génica transcripcional de inmunocitoquinas y el inmunofenotipo de las células mononucleares de sangre periférica humana (CMSPh) tratadas con la lectina semipurificada de Lupinus mutabilis Sweet, ecotipo Patón Grande. El extracto proteico (EPG) elaborado a partir de la harina desengrasada de semillas de lupino se fraccionó mediante cromatografía de exclusión molecular. Las lectinas del extracto y fracciones se identificaron mediante la actividad hemaglutinante y SDS-PAGE. Los fucoidanos son compuestos obtenidos de algas pardas con importantes funciones bioactivas. El objetivo fue estudiar in vitro la propiedad inmunomoduladora y antitumoral del fucoidan de Lessonia trabeculata (FLt) sobre células mononucleares de sangre periférica humana (CMSPh) y líneas celulares de cáncer de cérvix (HeLa), leucemia promonocítica humana (U937). Las células fueron tratadas con diferentes concentraciones de FLt (PSW S.A.), fucoidan comercial de Fucus vesiculosus (FFv, control fucoidan) y Doxorrubicina (Dox, control de citotoxicidad). Neoplastic tumors are characterized by invasiveness and metastasis. Neoplasticcells are genetically heterogeneous and can develop resistance to chemotherapeutic agents. For this reason, plants continue to be an important source of new anticancer products. Objective. To determine the cytotoxic and antiproliferative activity of a fucoidan-rich extract of native Lessonia trabeculata (EFLt) on the tripe negative murine mammary adenocarcinoma cell line 4T1. Methods. Fasciolosis is a cosmopolitan parasitosis medical-veterinary importance caused by Fasciola hepatica, which affects sheep, goats and cattle; and it affects man accidentally causing an epidemic-endemic infection difficult to diagnose. The aim was to develop an indirect sandwich ELISA with 3 antibodies for detecting excretory-secretory antigens of Fasciola hepatica (ESFh). For the development of indirect sandwich ELISA were used, as capture antibody, mouse polyclonal antibodies anti ESFh and polyclonal antibodies rabbit anti-ESFh as detection antibody, at the concentrations of 10 and 5 µg/mL respectively. La fasciolosis es una parasitosis cosmopolita de importancia médico-veterinaria ocasionada por Fasciola hepatica, que afecta al ganado ovino, caprino y vacuno; y accidentalmente al hombre ocasionando una infección endemo-epidémica de difícil diagnóstico. El objetivo fue desarrollar un ELISA sándwich indirecto, empleando 3 anticuerpos, para identificar antígenos de secreción-excreción de Fasciola hepatica (ESFh). Introduction. Acute stress alters memory and spatial learning and the expression of interleukin 6, the chewing stimulus would prevent these effects. Objective. To determine the effect of chewing stimulation and acute stress on the expression of interleukin 6 and memory and spatial learning in mice. Methods. Experiment where 70 male albino mice of the Balb/c of age 2 month were randomly distributed into: Group A1: acute stress 1 hour; Group A2: acute stress 1 hour + chewing stimulus 1 hour; Group B1: acute stress 2 hours; Group B2: acute stress 2 hours + chewing stimulus 2 hours; Group C1: acute stress 3 hours; C2: acute stress 3 hours + chewing stimulus 3 hours; Group D: without intervention.
