Adenomyosis, initially defined by Cullen in 1908 and distinguished from other types of endometriosis by Sampson in 1921,has seen significant improvements in its diagnosis thanks to advances in ultrasound and magnetic resonance imaging(MRI), which have increased its detected incidence. Since its introduction in the 1980s, ultrasound technology has evolvedwith high-resolution endocavitary transducers and 3D ultrasound, allowing for detailed assessment of the disease, especially in the endometrial junction zone. Although MRI offers higher resolution images, studies have shown little significantdifference in diagnostic value between the two techniques for adenomyosis, positioning ultrasound as a valuable initialdiagnostic tool due to its safety, low cost, and availability. Ultrasonographic criteria for diagnosis include the identificationof hyperechoic nodules, myometrial cysts, and alterati...

Introduction: Hypertensive disorders during pregnancy affect both the physical and psychological health of patients, potentially influencing their post-traumatic growth. Objective: To evaluate an explanatory model that relates post-traumatic growth to anxiety, emotion-focused coping strategies, and irrational beliefs in patients with preeclampsia and hypertension. Methods: A cross sectional, explanatory correlational study conducted with 351 women treated at the National Maternal Perinatal Institute in 2023. The Post-Traumatic Growth Scale, Generalized Anxiety Disorder Scale (GAD-7), Brief Irrational Beliefs Questionnaire, and Reduced Coping Strategies Inventory (CSI-COPE) were applied. A structural equation model was used to analyze the relationship between variables. Results: The mean age was 30.01 years. The best-fitting model (Chi²=347.043; DF=292; p<0.015; CFI=0.961; TLI=0.957; ...

Objective. To determine the characteristics of antibiotic prescriptions in pregnant women attended at the National Maternal Perinatal Institute (INMP) from July 2019 to June 2021. Materials and Methods. This is a quantitative, descriptive, retrospective, cross-sectional study. A data collection form was applied to gather variables related to antibiotic prescriptions, and the data were entered into a Microsoft Excel database for analysis using SPSS software. Results. The studyevaluated antibiotic prescriptions in 328 pregnant women, accounting for 10.87% of the total population. The majority (65%) were prescribed a single antibiotic. Urinary tract infections (37.80%) and preoperative antibiotic prophylaxis(54.27%) were the main reasons for prescriptions. Beta-lactams were the most prescribed group (84.14%), followed bylincosamides (14.93%). Most prescriptions were made in the third trimest...

Objective. To describe the psychological, social and gynecological characteristics of patients with gestational loss seen at the Instituto Nacional Materno Perinatal (2022). Materials and Methods. This research corresponds to a retrospective descriptive observational study, in which 176 clinical histories of patients with gestational losses during the year 2022 attended by the psychology service who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria were collected. An analysis of frequencies and percentages of the different variables was performed in order to meet the research objectives. Results. The average age of the patients was 30 years (min: 18 years and max: 46 years), with a mean of 2.64 gestations in the sample, a minimum of 0 and a maximum of 4 gestational losses. Fetal death (65.34%) was the most frequent diagnosis of fetal death. All the patients presented a psychological disorder, wit...

Introduction: Emotional coping is essential in pregnant women with complications. Objective: To analyze the psychometric properties of the Brief Coping Strategies Inventory (CSI-FV) in hospitalized patients at the Instituto Nacional Materno Perinatal. Materials and Methods: Psychometric instrumental study using secondary data from women over 18 years old without a history of mental disorders, obtained from two previous investigations. The first sample (n=208) was used to describe the items and perform confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) of the original model, as well as exploratory factor analysis (EFA) of five alternative models: four-, three-, and two-dimensional structures, and two unidimensional models—six factorial structures in total. Reliability (Cronbach’s alpha, ordinal alpha, and omega) and validity (CFI, TLI, SRMR, RMSEA) were assessed. A second sample (n=440), composed of...
