Domestic fauna is constituted by the species of animals that are under the control of man, and are under his protection and attention. The objective of the research was directed to determine the domestic fauna present in the houses of different inhabitants living in the Condado Sur Popular Council in the city of Santa Clara, Villa Clara, Cuba. For the development of the research, methods of information collection and methods of processing the collected information were used, such as interviews, participative observation, revision of historical-logical documents, deductive-demonstrative and statistical and mathematical methods, among which the descriptive statistical method is emphasized. A total of 300 homes were visited, and the presence of 39 vertebrate species was found, of which 13 are mammals, 24 birds, and two reptiles. Of these species 13 are endemic to the Cuban fauna, three are ...

Hypertension has become one of the most prevalent conditions among Cuban adults and the main risk factor for morbidity and mortality due to cardiovascular causes. The action research was carried out in the Popular Council Van Troi in the town of Caibarién, province of Villa Clara, Cuba, and its objective was to propose different natural remedies for the control of arterial hypertension. For the development of the research, methods of information collection and processing of the information collected were used, such as observation, survey, interview, expert criteria, deductive-demonstrative, deductive-demonstrative, synthetic analytical, among others, and statistical and mathematical methods, where the descriptive statistic stood out, for the elaboration of the graphs and the percentage analysis was also used as a procedure. The sample consisted of 85 inhabitants of the town of Caibarié...

The teaching-learning process in higher education should guide, orient and train students towards the acquisition of computer skills, in a society increasingly permeated by Information and Communication Technologies. The objective of the research is to propose a system of Virtual Practical Classes, for the study of the external and internal morphology of vertebrates that are studied as part of the Chordates Zoology program, in the Bachelor's Degree in Education. Biology, in the third year of the Regular Day Course, at the Central University "Marta Abreu" of Las Villas, Villa Clara, Cuba. The system is based on the Historical-Cultural Theory of L. S. Vigotsky and his followers. The information for the diagnosis is obtained from the application of different methods of information gathering and processing, such as surveys, interviews, observation and document review. In order to mitigate th...

The work consists of the design, elaboration and proposal of a concept map system with the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) to contribute to the learning of concepts in the teaching-learning process of Biology 2 (Zoology), in secondary education. The research uses various theoretical and empirical methods in its dialectical interrelation, which allows one to verify existing gaps in the use and elaboration of concept maps in the teaching-learning process of this subject. A total of 15 concept maps was built in electronic format covering all the units of the program, based on the concept of animal, and all taxonomic groups from the poriferans to the mammals. The concept maps were introduced in the teaching-learning process of Biology 2 from the 2018-2019 academic years. The proposed system, until its implementation, was evaluated by different specialists who consider...

The research proposes through interviews, workshops, talks and sociocultural encounters, to link the inhabitants of the town of Caibarién located in the municipality of the same name in the province of Villa Clara, Cuba, to the knowledge of Invasive Exotic Species and their undesirable effects to the Cuban vulnerable ecosystems and to human health and in particular of the Lissachatina fulica (Bowdich, 1822) species, the Giant African Snail. For the effective development of this research, theoretical and empirical methods are used to address the multilateral study of the research object. The research represents a novel way of appropriating new knowledge about the L. fulica species by the inhabitants of Caibarién. In the interviews carried out, it was found that some inhabitants had certain knowledge about the African Giant Snail, not about the harmful effects that this animal can cause ...

The analysis of the qualities of the men of science allows the work in the education in values of the students, it is for this reason that the research that was carried out in fact, aims to propose a compendium, in digital format that contributes to the knowledge of the life and work of the men of science who have made famous discoveries in the field of Biology, for the 7th grade students and teachers of the Basic Urban Secondary School (ESBU) “Javier Calvo Formoso”. For the development of the research, methods of information gathering and processing were used, which allowed to verify the deficiencies related to the life and work of Cuban and foreign scientists, who have made contributions to Biology. In the elaboration of this type of teaching means, for the teaching-learning process in Biology I. The population consisted of 117 students of the ESBU “Javier Calvo Formoso”, who m...

The research presented shows a malacological survey of Cienfuegos' southern area, from “Rancho Luna” beach to the mouth of the “Arimao River”. The malacological studies ranged from January 2018 to December of the same year. During the research, eight biotopes were selected in the area to be studied, and the presence of 52 species of marine gastropods, belonging to seven orders and 16 families, where the Sorbeoconcha order has the highest number of species was found. The best represented families were Neritidae and Littorinidae, with eight species, respectively. Species present only in one of the sampling points were identifi ed, as is the case of Bulla striata (Bruguière, 1792); Smaragdia viridis (Linnaeus 1758), Supplanaxis nucleus (Bruguière, 1789), and Bursa cubaniana (d´Orbigny, 1842). Based on their identification and classification, a systematic list was made that i...

This research proposes and validates a new Didactic Conception with an ecosystem approach for the teaching - learning process of the zoology of the chordates in the third year of the Regular Day Course, of the Bachelor Degree in Biology Education of the Faculty of Media Education "Félix Varela Morales" of the Central University "Marta Abreu" of Las Villas, Villa Clara, Cuba. The information for the diagnosis is obtained from the application of different empirical methods such as surveys, interviews, observation and review of documents. The Didactic conception is based on the Historical - Cultural Theory of LS Vygotsky and his followers, in which an ecosystem approach and confrontation to climate change is demonstrated, which, from its implementation in the aforementioned race, allows students to become even more aware of the imperative need to conserve biological diversity, as well...
