Las ciudades ubicadas a mas de 2500 msnm son consideradas de gran altitud, encima de esta altura las personas pueden presentar el mal de montaña agudo, ligado a la menos oxigenación y presión atmosférica, sin embargo los habitantes desarrollan cambios progresivos de aclimatación fisiológica, desarrollando incrementos de hemoglobina por ejemplo y durante una ECV se instalan varios mecanismos para mejorar la oxigenación a nivel celular para el resultado del tratamiento del infarto cerebral agudo.

OBJETIVO: Describir las características electrodiagnósticas encontradas del síndrome del túnel del carpo (STC) en pacientes del Hospital Nacional Alberto Sabogal Sologuren (HNASS). METODOLOGÍA: Estudio descriptivo de las características electrodiagnósticas encontradas del STC en 200 manos de 100 pacientes evaluados durante el año 2010 en el servicio de Neurofisiología del HNASS: latencias de conducción nerviosa motora y sensitiva distales del nervio mediano a nivel del carpo, prueba de comparación interna (PCI) sensorial mediano cubital en el cuarto dedo y electromiografía del abductor corto del pulgar. RESULTADOS: El 71% de los casos tuvieron entre 40 y 65 años, predomino el sexo femenino en 88%. La PCI incrementó la precisión diagnostica de la conducción nerviosa hasta en un 79% más de casos del STC de grado muy leve en comparación con los estudios electrofisiológico...

Introduction. The sign of the hyperdense middle cerebral artery (MCA) evaluated by simple tomography allows predicting ischemic cerebrovascular disease (ICD) with occlusion of a large vessel, however, it is common to identify this sign in residents with high hemoglobin levels without symptoms of ICD. Objectives. To evaluate the correlation between the radiodensity of the MCA and the hemoglobin level in patients with and without ICD, residing in a high-altitude city. Methods. Analytical observational study, including people residing in Cusco (located at 3300 masl) who attended the emergency service and underwent a brain tomography, presenting or not ICD symptoms. Objective: To determine the normal values of nerve conduction speed (VCN, acronym in Spanish) parameters from people residing in a city localized at highaltitude. Material and methods: Analytical observational study of people without a comorbid history, residing in Cusco, a city located at 3399 meters above sea level. The motor VCN of the median, ulnar, common peroneal, tibial, and the sensory VCN of the median, ulnar, and sural nerves, their latencies and amplitudes, were evaluated. Results: The study included 56 participants, with a median age of 24 (22-26) years. The latencies of the median, ulnar, and anterior tibial nerves were <5 m/s, and of the peroneal nerves were >5 m/s. Objective: We aimed to determine the correlation between blood viscosity and cerebral blood flow in people acclimated to chronic hypoxia who have high blood viscosity levels. Materials and methods: A Prospective observational study was conducted in asymptomatic young adults living in Cusco (3399 m altitude). All participants were examined at low and high shear rates (75 and 300 s−1) for simulating the dynamic component of blood viscosity. A transcranial Doppler study of the middle cerebral artery was performed to measure systolic, diastolic, and mean flow velocities (FVs), as well as resistance and pulsatility indexes (PIs). Results: One hundred and thirty-one participants were included.
