This year´s Nobel Prize in Chemistry has been awarded to the researchers Richard Heck (USA), Ei-Ichi Negishi(USA) and Akira Suzuki (Japan), for their valuable contributions to the development of a specific type of reaction for the formation of carbon-carbon bonds: “Palladium-catalyzed cross couplings”. The growing demand for new substances for drug development, materials and/or biologically active compounds has made this discovery an important tool for chemists, giving them the ability to meet these needs through the creation of complex molecules of industrial utility.

With the elucidation of the crystal structure of photosystemII (PSII), an important step in the search for new environmentally friendly energy alternatives has been taken. The attempt to imitate the characteristic reaction of photosynthesis (in order to manufacture ecologically friendly fuels) could represent a new opportunity to reduce our dependence on fossil fuels.

Los criterios tomados en cuenta para la evaluación de la calidad del agua superficial, han sido los valores de los parámetros físicos, químicos y microbiológicos establecidos en la Categoría 4 "Conservación del Ambiente: Ecosistemas Marino Costeros-Marinos", para la bahía de Paita y en la Categoría 3 "Riego de vegetales y bebida de animales", para el río Chira de los Estándares Nacionales de Calidad Ambiental para Agua, establecidos en el D.S Nº 002-2008-MINAM.
