La población estuvo constituida por 76 pacientes con diagnóstico de pie diabético según criterios de inclusión exclusión. Resultados: 53.9% (41) pacientes presenta HDL > de 40 mg/dl y 46.1% (35) presenta HDL ≤ de 40 mg/dl. El 59.2% (45) no fue amputado y 40.8% (31) si lo fueron. De 35 pacientes con HDL ≤ de 40 mg/dl, el 68.6% (24) fueron amputados y el 31.4 % (11) no lo fueron y de 41 pacientes con HDL > de 40 mg/dl, el 17.1% (7) fueron amputados y el 82.9% (34) no lo fueron. Sensibilidad 77.42%, Especificidad 75.56, Valor predictivo positivo 68.57%, Valor predictivo negativo 82.93%, Exactitud de la prueba 76.32%, lo cual es significativo. Conclusiones: El resultado del test de Colesterol HDL, predice correctamente la amputación o no amputación de las extremidades en pacientes con úlcera de pie diabético.
