Material y Métodos: Se llevó a cabo un estudio transversal en 92 estudiantes de medicina de últimos ciclos distribuidos en dos grupos: con suicidalidad o sin suicidalidad; aplicando el estadistico chi cuadrado y calculando elodds ratio. Resultados: No hubieron diferencias para edad, genero, procedencia ni obesidad entre los estudiantes de medicina con o sin suicidalidad (p>0.05). La frecuencia de ansiedad en estudiantes universitarios con suicidalidad fue de 84%. La frecuencia de ansiedad en estudiantes universitarios sin suicidalidad fue de 38%. La ansiedad es factor asociado a suicidalidad en estudiantes universitarios OR=8.6 (p<0.05). Conclusiones: La ansiedad es factor asociado a suicidalidad en estudiantes de una escuela de medicina.
