Se recopilaron datos sociodemográficos, clínicos, operatorios e histopatológicos de las historias clínicas. Se realizó un análisis estadístico descriptivo y se aplicaron pruebas de asociación y correlación. Resultados: De los 290 pacientes analizados, se observó una distribución equilibrada por sexo y una edad promedio de 32,24 ± 11,53 años. Se encontraron diferencias significativas entre las clasificaciones de los cirujanos y las del patólogo en los estadios de la apendicitis aguda (p < 0,001). Además, se identificaron correlaciones estadísticamente significativas entre las clasificaciones macroscópica y microscópica de las muestras y el recuento de leucocitos (p < 0,001). La duración del tratamiento antibiótico varió según el estadio histológico de la apendicitis, con una mediana más prolongada en casos de apendicitis perforada. Conclusión: Los resultados sugieren que la precisión diagnóstica intraoperatoria puede influir en el tratamiento postoperatorio de pacientes con apendicitis aguda. La discrepancia entre las clasificaciones de los cirujanos y los patólogos destaca la importancia de una comunicación precisa entre estos profesionales

Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted at the Regional Teaching Hospital of Trujillo between January 2019 and December 2021. A sample size of 290 patients operated on for acute appendicitis was calculated. Non-probabilistic sampling was used. Sociodemographic, clinical, operative, and histopathological data were collected from medical records. Descriptive statistical analysis was performed, and association and correlation tests were applied. Results: Of the 290 patients analyzed, a balanced distribution by sex and an average age of 32.24 ± 11.53 years were observed. Significant differences were found between the classifications of surgeons and pathologists in the stages of acute appendicitis (p < 0.001). Additionally, statistically significant correlations were identified between macroscopic and microscopic classifications of samples and leukocyte count (p < 0.001). The duration of antibiotic treatment varied according to the histological stage of appendicitis, with a longer median in cases of perforated appendicitis. Conclusion: The results suggest that intraoperative diagnostic accuracy may influence postoperative treatment in patients with acute appendicitis.
