Materiales y métodos: Estudio comparativo, cuantitativo, no experimental y retrospectivo. Se analizó una muestra de 293 pacientes seleccionadas aleatoriamente entre 519 historias clínicas. Se evaluaron las tasas de sensibilidad, especificidad y concordancia (índice Kappa) entre IVAA y PCR. La recolección de datos se realizó a partir de las historias clínicas, y los resultados fueron procesados utilizando software estadístico. Resultados: La sensibilidad del IVAA fue de 22.9% y su especificidad de 98.4%, mientras que la PCR presentó una mayor sensibilidad para identificar infecciones subclínicas de VPH. El índice Kappa de concordancia entre ambos métodos fue bajo (0.298), lo que sugiere la necesidad de usar ambos métodos de manera complementaria. Conclusiones: La PCR demostró ser más efectiva que la IVAA para la detección del VPH, aunque esta última presenta alta especificidad y es útil como prueba inicial en contextos de recursos limitados. Se recomienda la integración de ambas pruebas en programas de tamizaje para mejorar la detección y manejo del VPH.

Materials and Methods: A comparative, quantitative, non-experimental, and retrospective study. A sample of 293 patients was randomly selected from 519 medical records. Sensitivity, specificity, and agreement rates (Kappa index) between VIAA and PCR were evaluated. Data collection was based on medical records, and the results were processed using statistical software. Results: VIAA sensitivity was 22.9%, and its specificity was 98.4%, while PCR demonstrated greater sensitivity in identifying subclinical HPV infections. The Kappa agreement index between the two methods was low (0.298), suggesting the need to use both methods complementarily. Conclusions: PCR proved to be more effective than VIAA for HPV detection. However, VIAA showed high specificity and is useful as an initial test in resource-limited settings.
