description Objetivo: Determinar si la hipoalbuminemia es factor de riesgo para reacciones adversas a fármacos antituberculosos en pacientes con tuberculosis pulmonar. La población de estudio estuvo constituida por 116 pacientes con tuberculosis pulmonar según criterios de inclusión y exclusión establecidos distribuidos en dos grupos: con hipoalbuminemia o sin ella registrando la frecuencia de reacciones adversas a fármacos antituberculosos en cada grupo de estudio; se calculó el riesgo relativo y la prueba chi cuadrado. Resultados: No se apreciaron diferencias significativas respecto a las variables edad, género, procedencia, diabetes mellitus, insuficiencia renal ni anemia entre los pacientes con o sin hipoalbuminemia (p>0.05). La incidencia de reacciones adversas a fármacos antituberculosos en pacientes con tuberculosis pulmonar e hipoalbuminemia fue de 63%. La incidencia de reacciones adversas a fármacos antituberculosos en pacientes con tuberculosis pulmonar sin hipoalbuminemia fue de 37%. La hipoalbuminemia es factor de riesgo para reacciones adversas a fármacos antituberculosos en pacientes con tuberculosis pulmonar con un riesgo relativo de 4.8 el cual es significativo (p<0.05). Conclusiones: La hipoalbuminemia es factor de riesgo para reacciones adversas a fármacos antituberculosos en pacientes con tuberculosis pulmonar.

Material and Methods: An analytical, observational, cohort, retrospective study was carried out. The study population consisted of 116 patients with pulmonary tuberculosis according to established inclusion and exclusion criteria distributed in two groups: with or without hypoalbuminemia, recording the frequency of adverse reactions (liver, skin and gastric) in each study group; Relative risk and chi square test were calculated. Results: No significant differences were observed with respect to the variables age, gender, provenance, diabetes mellitus, renal failure or anemia among patients with or without hypoalbuminemia (p> 0.05). The incidence of adverse reactions to anti-tuberculosis drugs in patients with pulmonary tuberculosis and hypoalbuminemia was 63%. The incidence of adverse reactions to antituberculosis drugs in patients with pulmonary tuberculosis without hypoalbuminemia was 37%. Hypoalbuminemia is a risk factor for adverse reactions to anti-tuberculosis drugs in patients with pulmonary tuberculosis with a relative risk of 4.8, which is significant (p <0.05).
