Descripción
Sumario:In the present thesis, Technical efficiency was evaluated in EsSalud -Health Network, during 2006-2010 period, using the Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA), based on linear mathematical programming analysis and calculating the efficiency indices in eight decision units that shaped the envelope of efficiency . As welfare inputs: drug use, drug laboratory, use of X-rays, and beds available were considered, and as a result of care (outputs): number of doctor visits, number of patients day, and number of hospital discharges. With the aim to minimize the consumption of inputs (input orientation), and maximizing outputs (output orientation) through the establishment of a limit on relative Technical Efficiency and Global Technical Efficiency rates, Pure Technical Efficiency and Scale Efficiency. Considering the potential improvement obtained by inefficiency at the Network for the year 2010, the reduction in medical consultations (20%), Laboratory Analysis (22%) and Examination X-ray (56%), and increase hospital discharges (80%) and patient days (19%), projecting a better offer Hospitalization Service for 2011. It has been concluded that the technique allowed the evaluation of Technical Efficiency of decision units, showing a relatively inefficient use of resources by some of them in the two orientations; showing through the study, the possibility of implementing the DEA as a tool in the monitoring of hospital management.
