description Tuberculosis is a contagious disease, which influences the prevalence and mortality in developing countries worldwide, being the leading cause of death of a single infectious agent, classified above HIV / AIDS. (19) The province of Alto Amazonas in the Loreto region in 2018 is the second in TB morbidity with 7.1 x 100,000 inhabitants, surpassed by the province of Maynas with 75.5 x 100,000 inhabitants (26). Loreto considered as the region of greatest territorial extension with 28.7% (almost a quarter of the Peruvian Territory), and with 48% of the Peruvian Amazon as of 2017, ranks as the sixth region nationwide in TB morbidity by regions with a 113.4 X 100,000 inhabitants (7).The objective of this work was to determine the prevalence of tuberculosis, in the province of Alto Amazonas, Loreto, Peru. January 2014 to June 2017. The study population consisted of the 47,266 respiratory symptoms examined with suspicion of pulmonary tuberculosis. For which a descriptive, retrospective cross-sectional study was conducted, where information on the provincial health strategy for tuberculosis prevention and control, reference laboratory information and medical records of patients within the jurisdiction of the health network were reviewed. Alto Amazonas, Loreto, as a secondary source. During the study period 337 cases of Tuberculosis were registered, of which 43.6% correspond to the age group of 30 to 59 years, the highest percentage by gender corresponds to the male sex with 60.2%, by district origin 83.4% belonged to Yurimaguas , and by ethnic group 92.6% corresponded to Mestizo. 74.2% of the cases affected with Tuberculosis had a smear diagnosis, the highest percentage being a (+) with 38.6%, a (++) with 22.8% and a (+++) with 12.8%. Consequently, the morbidity and incidence of pulmonary tuberculosis with positive smears tend to decrease, unlike the incidence and mortality of tuberculosis, which has a marked tendency to increase over time. This research will allow to expand the knowledge about this pathology in the province of Alto Amazonas.

This research will allow to expand the knowledge about this pathology in the province of Alto Amazonas.
