Sumario:In this work, the influence of weld seams on the corrosion resistance of API 5LX-70 steel _x000D_ from the CAMISEA project was investigated. Using a potentiostatic polarization curve, the _x000D_ corrosion resistance of welded API 5L X-70 steel was evaluated. Three base material _x000D_ corrosion test tubes were tested, and three welded test tubes with E7018 electrodes. The _x000D_ corrosion tests were carried out following the ASTM G1-72 standard, evaluated by means _x000D_ of a polarization curve, using the ASTM G5-78 standard, determining the corrosion rate. _x000D_ Tests were carried out which showed that the corrosion was uniform. Welded joint samples _x000D_ were taken using the E7018 electrode and subjected to corrosion tests in seawater. Anodic _x000D_ polarization curves were obtained, which revealed a corrosion rate of 1.5 gr/cm2.year. In _x000D_ addition, corrosion tests were carried out on samples of the base material, which show a _x000D_ corrosion rate of 0.4 gr/cm2.year. The E7018 electrode material was determined to be less _x000D_ corrosion resistant than the base material due to its low root pass penetration
