Departamento Académico de Economía y PlanificaciónEsta tesis examina la relación entre el crecimiento económico y la desigualdad de ingresos, considerando además el impacto de otras variables de control sobre dicha relación. La investigación se enfoca en el contexto peruano a nivel departamental, abarcando el período 2007 – 2017. Se emplea una metodología de datos de panel dinámico con efectos fijos para determinar la significancia de cada variable y evaluar la validez de la hipótesis de la U invertida de Kuznets. Los resultados confirman la vigencia de la hipótesis de Kuznets durante el período de estudio. Asimismo, se evidencia que el crecimiento económico tiene un efecto significativo y positivo sobre la desigualdad de ingresos. Las variables de control también resultan significativas, mostrando los signos esperados en función de la teoría y la evidencia empírica. Estos hallazgos sugieren la necesidad de políticas públicas orientadas a promover el crecimiento económico, la conservación de los recursos naturales, erradicar la pobreza, fomentar el empleo y la educación.This thesis examines the relationship between economic growth and income inequality, considering also the impact of other control variables on this relationship. The research focuses on the Peruvian context at the departmental level, covering the period 2007 – 2017. A dynamic panel data methodology with fixed effects is used to determine the significance of each variable and evaluate the validity of the Kuznets inverted U hypothesis. The results confirm the validity of the Kuznets hypothesis during the study period. Likewise, it is evident that economic growth has a significant and positive effect on income inequality. The control variables are also significant, showing the expected signs based on theory and empirical evidence.
