El estudio fue realizado con un enfoque cuantitativo no experimental, transversal – correlacional. Para esta investigación se contó con una población de 399 internos penitenciarios del penal de Quillabamba, donde 353 fueron hombres y 45 fueron mujeres, distinguidos por sus características sociodemográficas. Los instrumentos usados fueron el inventario de Actitudes hacia la vida (Escala de resentimiento IAhv-ER) y la Escala de CRI-A - Coping Responses Inventory- Adult Form. Los resultados más relevantes encontrados muestran que no existe una correlación significativa, por lo que la hipótesis nula se acepta. Así mismo se reconoce que existen tres estrategias de afrontamiento con mayor relevancia en esta población carcelaria, estas son la búsqueda de recompensas alternativas, re evaluación positiva, evitación cognitiva. Por otro lado, también se encontró que existen internos que poseen un nivel de resentimiento de tendencia acentuada en más de 200 reclusos, población que resulta estadísticamente relevante.

The study was conducted with a quantitative, non-experimental, cross- sectional-correlational approach. For this research there was a population of 399 inmates of the Quillabamba penitentiary, where 353 were men and 45 were women, distinguished by sociodemographic characteristics. The instruments used were the Life attitude inventory (IAhv-ER resentment scale) and the CRI-A scale -Coping Responses Inventory - Adult Form. The most relevant results found show that there is no correlation significant, so the null hypothesis is accepted. It is also recognized that there are three coping strategies with greater relevance in this prison population, these are the search for alternative rewards, positive reappraisal, and cognitive avoidance.
