Objetivo: Evaluar la frecuencia de anticuerpos Ig M contra CMV y su relación con índices hematológicos como el INL e IPL en postulantes a donar sangre. Materiales y métodos: Estudio transversal. Se incluyeron 6011 historias clínicas de postulantes a donar sangre que acudieron al Servicio de Hemoterapia y Banco de Sangre del Hospital Nacional Cayetano Heredia en Lima, Perú en los meses de enero a agosto del 2024. Se calculó la frecuencia de la presencia de Ig M anti-CMV. Se dividió en 2 grupos según la presencia de Ig M anti-CMV y evaluó la relación con el INL e IPL. Resultados: El 71.5% de los postulantes a donar fueron del sexo masculino. La frecuencia de Ig M anti-CMV fue 0.8% siendo el sexo masculino donde se observó mayor frecuencia (76.6%). No se encontró relación significativa con los índices hematológicos INL e IPL (p >0.05). Conclusiones: Se encontró una baja frecuencia de Ig M anti-CMV en postulantes a donar sangre. No se encontró relación entre la presencia de Ig M anti CMV y el INL e IPL. A pesar de esto se resalta la necesidad de la vigilancia, prevención y estrategias para disminuir y detectar la presencia del CMV en esta población.

Some hematological indexes such as the neutrophil-lymphocyte index (NLI) and platelet-lymphocyte index (PLI) have shown to be useful for the evaluation of viral infections. Objective: To evaluate the frequency of Ig M antibodies against CMV and their relationship with hematological indices such as NLI and PLI in applicants to donate blood. Materials and methods: Cross-sectional study. We included 6011 clinical histories of postulants to donate blood who attended the Hemotherapy and Blood Bank Service of the Cayetano Heredia National Hospital in Lima, Peru from January to August 2024. The frequency of the presence of anti-CMV Ig M was calculated. We divided into 2 groups according to the presence of anti-CMV Ig M and evaluated the relationship with NLI and IPL. Results: 71.5% of the postulants to donate were male. The frequency of anti-CMV Ig M was 0.8%, being the male sex where the highest frequency was observed (76.6%). No significant relationship was found with the hematological indices NLI and PLI (p >0.05). Conclusions: A low frequency of anti-CMV Ig M was found in postulants to donate blood. No relationship was found between the presence of anti CMV Ig M and NLI and PLI.
