The instruments used were the Battery of Evaluation of the Reading Processes - Revised (PROLEC-R) and adapted for students of Metropolitan Lima, and the Scale of Reading Consciousness (ESCOLA). The sample consisted of 80 students (50 of the 5th grade and 30 of the 6th grade), being a non-probabilistic by convenience, sampling. The results show that there is a correlation between the variables (at a global level and for each process); however, this relationship occurs at various levels of significance. The syntactic process was the one that showed the best results, reaching very significant levels (p<.01) in almost all the relationships evaluated.La presente investigación tiene por objetivo determinar la relación que existe entre los procesos que componen la comprensión lectora (perceptivo, léxico, sintáctico y semántico) y las habilidades metacognitivas de la lectura (planificación, supervisión y evaluación) en alumnos del ciclo V (5to y 6to de primaria) pertenecientes a un colegio privado del distrito de Santiago de Surco, Lima (Perú). Los instrumentos utilizados fueron la Batería de Evaluación de los Procesos Lectores - Revisada (PROLEC-R) y adaptada para estudiantes de Lima Metropolitana, y la Escala de Conciencia Lectora (ESCOLA). La muestra fue conformada por 80 alumnos (50 del 5to grado y 30 del 6to grado), siendo un muestreo de tipo no probabilístico, por conveniencia. Los resultados indican una correlación positiva entre las variables (a nivel global y por cada proceso); no obstante, esta relación se presenta en diversos niveles de significancia. El proceso sintáctico de la lectura mostró los mejores resultados, llegando a niveles muy significativos (p<.01) en casi todas las relaciones evaluadas.
