Sumario: | The aim of this studio was explore the antioxidant, anti-inflammatory anti-enzimatic potential of hydro-alcoholic extract of Caesalpinia spinosa "tara" pods. The antioxidant activity was determined by neutralization of radical 1,1-diphenyl-2-picryl-hidrazilo (DPPH•+) and 2,2'-azinobis acid (3-ethylbenzothiazoline)-6-sulfonic acid (ABTS•+). The antienzymatic activity was assessed by inhibition of the enzymes collagenase and elastase. The antiinflammatory activity was determined by the method of induction of plantar edema in rats λ-carrageenan. 30 albino rats Holtzman strain were used, with average weight 200 ± 20g, randomly distributed in five groups of six, a control with saline, a group with indomethacin pharmacological standard and intervention groups with alcoholic extract doses of 50, 100 and 250 mg/kg, respectively. The extract showed antioxidant activity in DPPH (EC50 = 4,52 µg/mL ) y ABTS•+ (EC50 = 14,48 µg/mL), respectively, greater than the reference pattern trolox EC50 = 5,04 μg/mL and EC50 = 17,04 mg/mL. Antienzymatic activity in the extract showed greater inhibition to potential enzyme collagenase (IC50 = 196,752 g/mL) compared to the positive control epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) (IC50 = 216,99 mg/mL), without exhibiting significant activity for inhibiting the enzyme elastase. Antiinflammatory activity with the extract 250 mg/kg decreased inflammation 44,854% at the sixth hour, however, at the same time indomethacin 5 mg/kg decreased 48,267%; extracts of 100 and 50 mg/kg also reduced edema but less so than the standard. The values obtained analysis of variance (ANOVA) followed by Dunnet's test, with confidence level of 95% (p ≤ 0,05) showing significant differences in the mean of each extract during the hours it were applied. It is concluded that the hydro-alcoholic extract of Caesalpinia spinosa "tara" pods, has antioxidant, anti-enzymatic, anti-inflammatory activity. |
