In contrast, this study attributes the obtainment of women´s vote to the pressure on the undemocratic government ofOdría and to the emergence of successful women, professionals and workers, who changed the scenery of androcentric spaces.La promulgación del sufragio femenino posicionó al Perú dentro del conjunto de naciones modernas. Se suele presentar como sus gestores al presidente Odría y a su esposa, aunque no fueron sus artífi ces. Sin embargo, le dieron un uso político. Para Odría signifi có legitimar su imagen y la de su entorno gubernativo. María de Odría fue candidata al sillón edil en virtud de la ley.
