The structure (dispositio) and literary figures (elocutio) are reviewed to suggest that there is a moment in the reading journey that suggests the reader perceive the poem as an object within the sheet of paper. In this way, the poems propose a change in meaning that reveals the awareness of the materiality of space in poetic creation. The main focus from which it starts comes from the General Textual Rhetoric; in particular, the concept of the figurative field is used.En el presente trabajo se realiza una lectura de “inventario” del poemario Tema y variaciones (1950) y “escultura de palabras para una plaza de Roma” del poemario Habitación en Roma (1952), ambos libros pertenecientes a Jorge Eduardo Eielson (1924-2006). Se revisan la estructura (dispositio) y las figuras literarias (elocutio) para plantear que existe un momento en el recorrido de la lectura que sugiere al lector percibir el poema como un objeto dentro de la hoja de papel. De esta manera, los poemas proponen un cambio en la significación que pone de manifiesto la conciencia de la materialidad del espacio en la creación poética.
