When I received the invitation to write an editorial about the Romanian perspective on the SARS CoV 2 pandemics, I instantly knew that George Santayana’s quote: “Those who forget the past are condemned to repeat it” would be most apt to describe the Pan-European approach against this global epidemiological crisis.

In times where the consumer is able to find what he wants without being interrupted by advertising, advertisers are required to expand their messages through new alternatives that connect the audience with the brand in an attractive way. The advergame is part of these new tools as it seeks to retain consumers through interactive games that represent the brand’s values, characteristics and benefits. To understand the influence of this advertising tool in Lima’s youth, this article makes an analysis on the attitude they generate towards the brand depending on the treatment that is given in the game, the exposure time and other variables.

OBJECTIVE: To determine the characteristics of sexuality in women over 39 years in a region of the Peruvian jungle. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Survey of 25 questions on sexuality, with multiple, anonymous and voluntary 145 women> 40 years specific alternatives. RESULTS: One hundred twenty women adequately resolved the survey. 18.3% were menopausal; 45.8% two years ago did not enjoy sex with your partner, which correlated with age> 60. Those who still liked sex were married or cohabiting and generally <50 years. Factors associated with not enjoy sex, were lack of desire and dyspareunia. 38.3% wanted their sex life was like before. There was a close relationship between lack of desire and the negative answer to this question (p <0.001). CONCLUSIONS: Women Lamas left to find sexual pleasure between 50 and 60 years. For the sexual life, the fact of menstruation was not associated with sexual pl...

The coronavirus crisis we are suffering globally should soon be over. As of this writing (4/17/2020), there have been 150,000 deaths accounted for due to this cause and almost one million confirmed cases worldwide. Due to the lack of diagnostic testing and health politics to carry out analysis, mainly to those who are admitted to hospitals with symptoms, we still do not know the actual number of affected individuals, but it must be much higher than reported cases. The authors themselves have affected family members, even in Intensive Care Units (ICU). The healthcare and political authorities continue to say that the worst is yet to come. And certainly, very important, that we all stay at home. Once the national state of emergency is declared by governments, physical distancing compliance should be taken as an obligation for all.

This paper focuses on the pay level of the highest paid executive directors which we label as “Executive Director’s Organizational Level” (henceforth EDOL) to raise the question if highest paid CEOs invest heavily in innovative projects. Two-stage least squares (2SLS) regressions show that over-paid CEOs are more likely to invest in R y D projects. They highlight moreover both from a “statutory” and an “activist” perspective that CEOs’ intends to invest in value-enhancing innovations are contingent upon compensation committee independence and investor protection level. Check tests reveal that the pay-performance “innovation” effect for option-based compensation is higher than that for stock-based compensation. Within the options (stocks) rewards unvested options (restricted stocks) are the most effective. However we find that over-paid CEOs of low-growth firms achieve...

Wisdom is analyzed in terms of the Greek sceptic tradition. Crucial for wisdom is the acknowledgment of the inability to acquire infallible knowledge and the acceptance to act upon the world on the basis of that same fallible knowledge. This fallibilism is based on the notion of the plausible. This fallibilistic epistemology is useful in the domain of life pragmatics, notably a domain of ill-defined problems. 1 t is assumed that the nature of wisdom is a function of culture and history: first as a content and then to a more cognitive style concept. This means that wisdom has historically evolved from a cognitive toa metacognitive capacity. With respect to changes in wisdom over the life span it is argued that in contrast to the communis opinio, these changes are not age-related. Finally, it is assumed that changes in wisdom are a function of dealing with life-events, the accumula...

The development of high yield and high selectivity catalysts has been a topic of great interest since the beginning of the industrial era, as these catalysts can be greatly helpful in synthesis at either laboratory or industrial stages. Lately, the modification of metalloenzymes has acquired quite a lot of attention due to the achievements of recent years, which led to its recognition with the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 2018. By making a variety of modifications, it is possible to change the enzyme’s substrate as well as the reaction medium in which they are active. These modifications can be made in the amino acid sequence of the protein, in the identity of the active site metal or both. Similarly, it is possible for metalloenzymes and traditional catalysts to work as one, with the objective to vastly improve catalytic efficiency.

The ability to estimate and discriminate quantities is of early onset in the development and prior to the acquisition of a symbolic numerical system. The performance on tasks of discrimination is modulated by the number ratio that differentiates the sets, so that smaller reasons result in slower and less effective comparisons. The objective of the present study is to analyze the precision and speed by which 4 and 6 year old children discriminate between two quantities based on the number ratio that distinguishes them. Method: a discrimination task of non-symbolic quantities (ad hoc) was given to 60 children from 4 and 6 years old in the city of Buenos Aires, Argentina. A mixed ANOVA design was carried out to analyze the amount of hits and reaction times (RT) according to age, and the number ratio that differentiates the groups. The Bonferroni contrast test was used to detect the differen...

The marked increase in the Peruvian population’s access to different forms of higher education in the last decade has been accompanied by a decline in real income among the group of workers that had access to university education. Therefore, those characteristics shared by workers whose level of education exceeds what is required for their occupation (over-educated workers), and theextent to which this is associated with receiving lower income on the job market, are explored. A data pool from the National Household Survey (Encuesta Nacional de Hogares) for the years 2001 to 2011, and a panel from the same survey for 2007 to 2011, are analyzed. The estimation of logit models shows evidence that living in rural areas, working at companies with less thanten employees, being salaried, among other characteristics, are positively associated with the probability of being over-educated....

The war in Ukraine has grabbed headlines around the world. This analysis asks who is covering it and what this says about war reporting. The advent of the Web and the subsequent polarization of the media pits the constant demand for information against the journalistic expectation of calm analysis. While traditional media seem to guarantee credibility, more and more people are turning to alternative information providers. To explore these changes’ repercussions on war correspondents, this study analyzes 11,268 bylines of the news on Ukraine published digitally by the most widely read newspapers in Spain (El País, El Mundo, El Correo, and La Vanguardia) and the USA (The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, USA Today and New York Post), during the first week of the conflict, from February 24 to March 2, 2022. Through these, the authors’ working relationship with each newspaper is ...

This paper aims to discuss the part of the debt problem that is mainly composed of credits used for investments of dubious value from a development point of view, working on the basis of the so-called ‘odious debts’ of international law, and their link to the theory and practice of economic development. The purpose of the paper is to contribute to the solution of the current debt problem and its prevention for the future. Its basic assumptions are, firstly, that only by incorporating objective criteria that can be inferred from the international development debate is it possible to avoid an even more catastrophic situation; and, secondly, that the development value of goods exported to the Third World is a risk shared by the supplier and the buyer together.

It is well known that the confrontation in an arbitral procedure to obtain a favorable award implies a strenuous effort by both the parties and their respective legal. Even more in the framework of international arbitration and investment treaty arbitration between a State and a foreign investor. However, it should not be overlooked that many times the heart of the matter lies in the enforcement of the award. Having a favorable award is no small task, yet we cannot ignore the dire reality in which investors face off a perilous journey in order to enforce what is lawfully theirs. Thus, this article deals with the aftermath of a victorious award for the foreign investor, who often cannot see the decision contained in the award materialize, due to a lack of compromise of the respective State which adduces several foreign immunity regulations, which makes enforcing an award a titanic feat, th...

Objective: To evaluate the history of cataract and vision problems in people over 50 years of age in Peru. Methods: Secondary database analysis of the Demographic and Family Health Survey (ENDES) 2016. We included 7970 adults over 50 years of age. We evaluated the indicators of interest at the national and regional level. Likewise, we analyzed factors related to these events using a multivariate Poisson model. Results: 13.6% (95% CI: 12.8-14.3%) had a history of cataract, 20.4% (95%CI: 19.5-21.3%) had long-distance vision problems. (LDVP) and 29.4% (95%CI: 28.4-30.4%) of short-distance vision problems (SDVP). In the multivariate model, we observed that people with a history of high blood pressure, a history of diabetes, and older age groups were significantly more likely to report a history of cataracts and vision problems. We also observed that people with a better economic status had a...
