Mexico is one of the leading citrus producers worldwide. This work presents an analysis for improving the citrus waxing process in a company dedicated to this activity, located in the town of Álamo, Temapache, in the northern part of the state of Veracruz, Mexico. This study used the ten approaches to operations analysis to find areas of opportunity where the company could improve; the implementation of lean manufacturing tools such as 5s, Kaizen, and autonomous maintenance was suggested to optimize the waxing process. As a result of this analysis, an improvement proposal was developed regarding simplifying operating procedures, improving the handling of materials, and optimal use of equipment, allowing the company to be more efficient and productive.

Consequently, large amounts of Spent Coffee Grounds (SCG) are generated, which are solid coffee residues obtained after the ground coffee leaching process. This residue can be reused because of its compounds as phenolics. This study focuses on enhancing the competitiveness of small and medium-sized companies (SMEs) specializing in heavy equipment maintenance. It introduces an innovative model that links the operational efficacy of technical processes to the overall effectiveness of maintenance services. This approach considers all elements of the value chain, including the processes and resources involved at each stage. The research highlights that a gap in the technical development of these processes hinders companies from achieving optimal outcomes due to inconsistency in maintenance methods. To address this challenge, a quantitative study has been conducted to explore the causal relationship between the efficacy of technical processes and the effectiveness of maintenance services. This research study aims to identify strategies that enable companies to improve their performance in this area.

In this paper we have studied the effect of the moisture from the eucalyptus leaf and the time of extraction on the yield of essential oil and the production cost. We took into account parameters such as steam temperature, pressure extraction, porous bed, steam flow and temperature of condensation. A Central Composite Rotational Design was used to evaluate optimum extraction areas and the cost that would follow, searching always to increase yields and reduce costs. According to this design, the extraction with the lowest production costs (0.57 Nuevos Soles by mL of essential oil) is reached when the leaves have moisture between 25 and 30% and are extracted with times between 98 and 126 min.

Este trabajo presenta la situación de una empresa que se dedica a la fabricación de bolsas plásticas, la cual actualmente tiene retrasos en su producción cuya consecuencia proviene de: faltante de materias primas, productos defectuosos y reprocesados. Es por ello que, al no contar con métodos estandarizados ni herramientas en el flujo de producción, lleva consigo el retraso de los tiempos de entrega del producto al cliente, el cual fue de 41.67% entregas impuntuales en el año 2016. This research analyzes the distribution of a poultry plant, with defined processes and established areas. However, it has been proven that the poultry production process can optimize its processes by redistribu ting it, applying the SLP (Systematic Layout Plan- ning) methodology. In addition, the purpose is to take the process to a second level of improvement with process automation.
