This proposal aims to improve the efficiency of the packaging process of a company specialized in seasonings and ground foods through the application of the Lean Manufacturing approach. To carry out this study, data was collected from a Peruvian company, which was evaluated using a simulated validation model in the Arena version 16.1 program. This process included the participation of experts in the relevant areas, ensuring significant results for potential implementation. The results obtained indicated a significant reduction from 7.5% to 0.08% in the generation of defective products per production. In addition, production times were reduced in tasks related to the packaging line of one of its products. These findings allowed us to conclude that the simulation model is highly replicable in various production lines of the company. In comparison with other related studies, it stands out t...

Introduction: Lead times in the design and implementation of spaces in Lima represent 42% of the causes of customer dissatisfaction in the sales process. Therefore, the research focuses on the optimization of lead times, as they are usually very high in small companies (SMEs) and with non-standardized and therefore inefficient processes. Methods: A model is proposed that delineates a standardization plan for a process. Initially, it is necessary to map the existing state of sales process, recommend a new mapping of the quotation process using Value Stream Mapping (VSM), locate the critical path using Pert-CPM, and identify the activity that is causing the greatest amount of process delay. To make the process of identifying standards simpler, data is then gathered and categorized. After standardizing the sales procedure and validating the proposal with Arena Simulator, the outcomes are as...

In Peru, chicken is one of the most consumed foods in all regions. Due to the constant increase in population, chicken production is increasing in the country. For this reason, a food company must improve its efficiency to satisfy more customers and reduce its costs per productive unit without reducing its quality. The research can be useful to canning companies as well as companies where their machines suffer from many failures within production due to a lack of maintenance planning and worker training. The model used is based on two methodologies: 5S and TPM. These methodologies reduced the total production time per batch by 8% and improved the utilization rate by 7 percentage points. The use of these tools helped reduce corrective maintenance time and standardize processes to avoid recurring equipment failures.

The present work aims to improve the lead time and productivity in the pizza assembly process of a medium-sized company. To this end, lean manufacturing tools were used for implementing a work method that eliminates wastes or activities that add no value to the process. The results showed a reduction in the process lead time by 99% and an increase in the productivity of up to 20% compared to the initial situation. It was concluded that the tools used in the research, such as the line balancing graph, 5S or cellular manufacturing, allowed the elimination of wastes found during the process.

Mexico is one of the leading citrus producers worldwide. This work presents an analysis for improving the citrus waxing process in a company dedicated to this activity, located in the town of Álamo, Temapache, in the northern part of the state of Veracruz, Mexico. This study used the ten approaches to operations analysis to find areas of opportunity where the company could improve; the implementation of lean manufacturing tools such as 5s, Kaizen, and autonomous maintenance was suggested to optimize the waxing process. As a result of this analysis, an improvement proposal was developed regarding simplifying operating procedures, improving the handling of materials, and optimal use of equipment, allowing the company to be more efficient and productive.

The purpose of this work is to provide information on cost improvements in SMEs in the brewing sector using lean manufacturing and BPM. A simulation model was created using Arena and Bizagi, where the model was made with the provision of a small brewing company, the indicators used to measure the effectiveness of the model are: distribution cost per bottle, percentage of use of containers, lead time and OTIF, these indicators seek to provide us with the necessary data to validate the process. This document shows us a more complete vision of the use of these tools and the result of their use. It will contribute to academic and professional work on lean manufacturing and BPM in small companies.

The research aimed to improve the operational efficiency in the cutting process of a wood beam line in a Peruvian sawmill using Lean Manufacturing tools. The study found a technical gap of 11.81% with an economic impact of 4.94%. Three root causes were identified: breakdowns in the tableting machine, high setup times, and errors in the cutting process. To address these issues, the study proposed the use of engineering tools such as SMED and standardization of the work method. The implementation of these tools was expected to increase operational efficiency, reduce downtime, and improve product quality. The study's findings contribute to the literature on Lean Manufacturing and its application in the Peruvian manufacturing industry, highlighting the potential for efficiency improvements in the wood processing sector.

The Peruvian construction sector, especially its SMEs, faces critical inefficiencies in supply chain management, particularly in procurement processes. Past research has shown that these inefficiencies lead to significant cost overruns and delays. This study addressed these challenges by implementing a procurement model integrating Lean Construction, Kaizen, and Just-In-Time (JIT). The main challenges identified were excess material purchases (20.12% of cost overruns) and late deliveries (25.84% of operations). The model reduced late deliveries from 25.84% to 8.95% and purchasing errors from 8.49% to 3.33%, confirming its effectiveness. The research has substantial academic and socio-economic implications for Peruvian SMEs, providing a solution that enhances efficiency and reduces operational costs. Further research should explore broader applications of this model and strategies to prom...

This study evaluates the application of Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) and Lean methodologies in the Peruvian agricultural sector, focusing on asparagus packing operations. To this end, it develops an innovative model with the objective of increasing the productivity of asparagus packing, one of the main problems of the Peruvian agricultural industry. Through the application of an autonomous and preventive maintenance strategy, it seeks to eliminate untimely stops in the asparagus processing line. Meanwhile, with the implementation of standardized work, the aim is to eliminate activities that do not add value and downtime. A pilot project was implemented with a sample of 72.98 kg of processed asparagus, using the processing times of each activity as input data for the validation model, using Kolmogorov- Smirnov and Chi-square statistical tests to define the distributions of the times...
